Pwinsider.com reports that part of the reason that Eric Young was made TNA World Champion was so that they can do some cross promotion with his Animal Planet show, Off The Hook: Extreme Catches. Season three of the show debuts on Sunday June 16, and the plan is to spend the next two months getting Young over as champion to coincide with the return of the show.

TNA is also trying to move ahead by putting Eric Young's goofy character from the past, in the past. They want to change his perception and repackage him as a credible champion in the eyes of the fans.

So let me get this straight, you kill Magnus' title run (which was bullshit from the beginning, but i wont get into that rant again) for a tv show that probably nobody watches? Are you kidding me? Eric Young has been a goof character for the past 10 years and NOW you want to make him serious? You had that chance when he was the evil mastermind of World Elite, but even that wasnt booked properly.

If he still has fun with the fans, this could work. If he is turned back into what they did years ago with World Elite, it'll suck balls.

Well, to be fair, most Animal Planet shows probably draw better rating than Impact.

They should've booked Magnus' title run better instead of making him a paper champion. 


I don't know how Eric Young could be taken seriously though. Also I've never heard of that show. What's the point of promoting it
