I don't think Jim Ross was implying that Cena didn't need to go over Cesaro. His response seemed pretty impartial to me.

I think what he's saying is it didn't matter who won the match. Cesaro could've won, sure, but all anyone will remember is the way Cesaro looked like a star in there with Cena. He went from being a body in the Chamber to someone who might actually be considered a contender (though he still won't win).

Cena should have gone over and it's for Cesaro's good. If Cesaro goes over it's a big disappointment the first loss he takes and you kill all his momentum... You'd be pigeonholing yourself into hot-shotting him. A big time performance opens the door for a bigger role while retaining the freedom to have him slow-build or lose in general.

What happens if Cesaro wins that match and then loses in the chamber? You have to book him in a major feud going into Wrestlemania and have him win or you're back to square one.

Same way I feel for Reigns btw. Everyone knows how much I like him, but I'd hate for him to be main eventing RIGHT NOW. I'd rather a small and steady build up.

Beating Cena (especially clean) needs to be a crowning achievement. Too many people beat him, or beat him down, early on and it kills their momentum. Where do you go from there?

Curtis Axel beat Cena, and look where he is now. If they had been building him up instead, and then had him beat Cena NOW, it'd be a lot more meaningful.
