Manchester United have rejected a second bid from Chelsea for striker Wayne Rooney, the club have confirmed.
Chelsea put forward an offer for the England international yesterday, thought to be around £25million, but it was immediately rejected.
A United spokesman told Press Association Sport: "A bid was received yesterday and immediately rejected. Our position remains that he is not for sale."

The second bid and United's swift response will now focus Rooney's mind on his future at Old Trafford - there have been reports that he will consider handing in an official transfer request.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has made the 27-year-old his top transfer target and Rooney told former United manager Alex Ferguson last season that he wanted a move.
New United boss David Moyes has repeatedly stressed that Rooney is not for sale.
Rooney himself however was unimpressed by the manager's remarks that he would effectively have to be an understudy to main striker Robin van Persie.

£25-30m is crazy money for a player who's past his best, physically declining & not even needed.

So wait...Moyes wants to buy Fabregas, but doesn't want to sell Rooney to get the money for that?

We don't want to sell a player to a club in the same league, and especially not a title rival.

I'm sure Man Utd would love to offload Rooney to another club, but no other team is willing to pay high wages for a player who's past best.

Managers say lots of things. If Real Madrid came in with a £50m offer, we'd sell definitely.

Obviously that won't happen, just for example.

It saddens me how Rooney is still 27 and past his prime. Shows me how good English players are.
