|  As the Earth's core shutters,
mortals cringe and wait.
Hysteria struck our race,
though they need a little convincing.
Time never existed,
for we placed numbers on figments.
Yet our time is fleeting,
while Mother Nature kisses us goodbye.
Unbridled winds snarling,
ripping our trees to the heavens.
The sky breaks open,
lava spews from beneath our feet.
But, we run,
toward an inevitable demise.
Our weak planet crumbles,
surely devouring itself.
Though we panic,
attempting to hurdle fate.
How much time is left,
to reverse a lifetime of regret, remorse, and sorrow?
Satisfaction never existed,
for we placed emotions on pedestals.
So much that,
panic is our first option.
I cannot wait until our sun finally sets,
for I will finally be freed.
The chains of woe will break,
and my chimes of hope can ring.
When our stars are born,
their lifetimes are fractions of ours.
As they survive timeless,
they twinkle and glisten from birth,
until they fade to dust. |
