| Selena Gomez will perform at the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day game in her native Texas. The 21-year-old star is set to sing at half-time at the televised NFL game, between the Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys. On November 28 at the AT&T Stadium, Selena will launch The Salvation Army's 123rd Red Kettle Campaign to help the poor during the national American holiday.
Selena and the Dallas Cowboys made the announcement before their game on Sunday (04.11.13), where she joined owner Jerry Jones on the field. She said: ''I don't think you can be from Texas and not watch a Cowboys Thanksgiving game.''
Later on, Selena posted on Twitter: ''I'm kicking off @SalvationArmyUS 's 123rd #RedKettleCampaign this Thanksgiving w/a halftime performance during the @DallasCowboys game! ''Feels SO good to be home. Hi Dallas. I hope I make TX proud. (sic)''
In 1997, the Cowboys partnered with The Salvation Army to launch the Red Kettle Campaign, which has raised more than $1.75 billion to provide clothes, shelters, meals and services for the poor. In a statement, Selena said: ''Dallas is my hometown, and to be invited to perform on behalf of The Salvation Army is such a great honour. ''Giving back is so important, and I am looking forward to kicking off the iconic Red Kettle Campaign and getting those bells ringing across the nation to help families and children in need.''
Other musicians who have previously provided half-time entertainment at the Thanksgiving game include Kenny Chesney, Enrique Iglesias, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. Selena was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, just 13 miles from Dallas, and her family are big supporters of the team. The team's cheerleaders cannot wait for her performance and have been tweeting their excitement for the show.
One cheerleader, Brittany Schram, posted a photograph on Twitter of Selena with two cheerleaders, writing: ''So happy fellow Texan & personal fav @selenagomez will be our Thanksgiving Halftime! #geekingout #fangirling. (sic)'' |

| Why do we get pop singers to set the tone for a football game? I mean seriously why? The game loses its momentum in a major way, and 99% of the singers suck live anyway. No football fan in the stadium is about to get amped up for Call Me Maybe, or whatever the hell this chick is famous for. So basically at best, you'll get a polite applause, at worst, boos and awkwardness. This doesn't just apply for her, but for all these garbage acts the NFL has been giving us in recent years. Know your demographic NFL. |

| My note: Just saying, im tired of some little faggot trying to be a badass by using pedophile jokes. Kid will never interact with a girl in the real world because hes too busy sitting in his moms basement talking shit to people on the internet. Never interacted with anyone underage in real life, never been in trouble for it, i really dont know why i have to justify anything to some piece of shit kid who will never amount to anything in his life. Seriously, i'm sick and tired of this bullshit. Keep making the posts and ill keep deleting them, that simple.
Anyway, the NFL will never get anybody decent ever again to do any kind of halftime show because of what happened with Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, plain and simple. It all went downhill when they had fucking Nickelback at the Lions game a few years ago. |

| Well, I wasn't considering 04 Justin Timberlake to be much of a step up. And to be fair, just by the song choice, you had to know something was going to happen. Maybe not that bad, but at that point JT was still trying to shed his boy band image. And actually Nickleback was suppose to do it last year, but Detroit fans nearly rioted and so many people complained it got changed to Kid Rock |

I used to like their old stuff. All The Right Reasons was probably the last album I enjoyed. I heard they suck live, so maybe that's why they have a bad rep? I saw them live, and they were great. Maybe I just got lucky though. Inb4 can't have been lucky if I saw Nickelback. |
