Negative Backstage Reaction to HHH's Final Raw Promo
There was said to be a lot of head shaking backstage during Triple H's promo at the end of Raw last night, which once again denigrated Daniel Bryan. The feeling was HHH's comments buried Bryan as a performer as opposed to helping put Bryan over in a villainous way.

He also put down Edge and Jericho, I was fail at that promo. At least HBK was there to make it not so bad

^ What you talkin' bout? RAW was doing pretty good leading into Summerslam. Then they had the Triple H swerve and there was a bit of a decline. Then Night of Champions rolled around and now the show is somewhat cringe-worthy.

HHH has been burying Daniel Bryan since before Night of Champions. If you really dont want the viewing audience to get behind him, then this is the way to do it. All about HHH's ego.

It's entertainment. Yeah, HHH would bury someone he's supported and makes him tons of money. Makes total sense.

Not about making money, to the VIEWING audience, that brings in the ratings for your product, if the boss is telling them that this guy has no chance in hell week after week after week, in the eyes of a casual fan, it's hard for them to get behind a certain wrestler. Even though he supports him backstage, the casual fan doesnt see that and only sees a guy whos touted as a nobody and will never amount to anything in wrestling. That is what you need to understand, its not about whats going on, on tv....its how its being presented.

Not true. Triple H is the bad guy. A bad dictator boss bringing down the face he's feuding with shouldn't have any effect to any normal viewer...

Again, you're only looking at it from a storyline point of view and not a logical point of view. If someone who doesnt watch Raw on a weekly basis tunes in and sees Bryan being put down, he/she is going to say "hmm, the boss is saying this guy isnt good enough to be champion, why should i support him?" So yeah, it is true, the ratings can reflect whether or not people are paying attention to that segment. People that watch Raw every once in a while can come to the Bryan match/segment and go "oh, here's this guy that isnt better than Randy Orton" and change the channel. Once again, it's how it's being presented.

Really? Because go look at ratings breakdowns whenever they're posted, they tell you how many viewers you gain or lost during a particular segment. Its time to get out of the kayfabe world and start looking at the bigger picture, dude.

No, it just seems highly inprobable that someone would say "Oh look, a WRESTLING show. The BAD guy is telling the GOOD guy he's not good enough, so it must be true!" regardless of whether or not they watch consistently, it's logical. VERY unlikely to happen and if it does, that person probably wasn't a fan to begin with. It's retarded to say "let's ruin a GREAT storyline, with GREAT characters because someone somewhere might not take them seriously!"

DUDE, you are NOT getting it. I said its not a KAYFABE point of view in terms of someone who doesnt watch Raw every week. Not everyone has the same mindset as you do and believe it or not people WILL and DO change the channel for certain segments. The proof is in the ratings breakdown. In order for someone to get behind a character they have to believe in the character, and if all they see is Daniel Bryan being told week after week after week he doesnt have it and hed be a failure of a champion, they will think that hes someone that shouldnt be cheered or supported. It's NOT unlikely because it DOES happen. ONCE AGAIN you're ONLY looking at it from a kayfabe point of view when it simply does not apply. Not everyone gets on the internet and reads the dirtsheets for their backstage info or frequents forums like this and it's ignorant to say they arent a real fan because they dont watch the product as religiously as most do.

You're trying to say people shouldnt take it seriously because HHH supports him backstage. My argument is, a fan who doesnt pay attention to any of the backstage info or dirtsheets or whatever, is being told they shouldnt support this character because the boss is saying he isnt good enough to amount to anything. Kayfabe does not apply to a casual watcher because they simply do not keep up with everything once the show goes off the air.

I'm saying people shouldn't take it seriously because in ANY scenario, it doesn't end with him actually looking bad:

-Casual fan that knows wrestling's fake but watches consistently (probably aged 14+) would say "Ah, bad guy slandering good guy, Daniel bryan's gonna win in the end."

-Person that watches absolutely no wrestling whatsoever but for some reason decides to watch this, "Ooh that dude's a dick to the other guy, typical wrestling."

-Little kid that watches consistently "I hope Daniel Bryan kicks that mean HHH's butt!"


I'm simply pointing out that in NO scenario will someone take it seriously. Give me an example of a scenario where someone will actually take this seriously enough to stop cheering Daniel Bryan.

Its pretty simple, a casual fan can see that segment and go "hmm, the boss is favoriting Randy Orton over Daniel Bryan", "Triple H is saying that Bryan cant win the big one, so why should i believe he can?".

Like i said, not everyone has the same mindset as you do and doesnt sit there and cheer who they're told to cheer for if they dont believe in the character.

I apologize for the way this may sound, but that's reaaaaally stupid.

Also, outside of Big Show segments, Triple H usually doesn't come across as all that heelish. I know there are certainly exceptions, especially the past two weeks, but before the "I'll be the bad guy" speech, Triple H sounded like a face in a lot of his promos. Hell, both him and Orton still get face pops a lot of the time.

I think having Michaels there as a Bryan supporter will help, but WWE needs to draw a clearer line on what the problem is with Triple H. The "B+" stuff is getting unbelievable to regular viewers, and is misleading for casual fans, so it should be dropped. Focus more on the image thing, and maybe play up Triple H being jealous of Bryan (after all, Triple H rarely had the kind of fan support Bryan typically enjoys). Make it a bit clearer for casual fans that Triple H is a bad guy, because a lot of the less smarky fans I know don't read the storyline like you or I do. They see Triple H as a veteran, and to them Bryan's still a rookie who doesn't look all that impressive and hasn't been successful since SummerSlam.
