Tonight Ring of Honor taped their annual Glory by Honor event from the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago Ridge, IL. Like their tournament-based events this summer, this show will be used for several episodes of ROH TV in the coming weeks. Thanks to my friend Josh, who was out in Chicago Ridge for tonight's show, for sending in the following results (partial credit to PWPonderings.com):





Ring of Honor Presents: Glory by Honor XII
Oct. 26, 2013 – Frontier Fieldhouse, Chicago Ridge, IL

(1) Silas Young def. Mark Briscoe with a roll-up and the ropes for leverage.

(2) Jimmy Jacobs def. Adam Page

(3) Michael Bennett def. Kevin Steen in a match billed as "Piledriver vs. Piledrver". There was a spot in the match where Steen got Bennett up for the F-Cinq, but seeing Maria, decided to hit a GTS instead. Maria caused a distraction that would lead to Bennett stealing the win, of course, with a piledriver. After the match, Bennett brought Steen out to the apron, but Lisa Marie Varon came out and attacked Maria, hitting her with the Widow's Peak.

(4) Tommaso Ciampa def. Jessy Sorensen. Medics came out to check on Jessy after the match, but he waved them off. The crowd was very happy to see him back in action, despite not having actually wrestled much for TNA.

(5) "Outlaw Inc." Homicide & Eddie Kingston def. "Adrenaline RUSH" ACH & Tadarius Thomas

(6) Paul London def. Roderick Strong with the Shooting Star Press.

(7) All-Stars def. ROH Champions. Michael Elgin pinned ROH World Champion Adam Cole, and will get a shot at him in the future. The match was "definitely more than an hour long; maybe an hour and a half, but still extremely fun."

I really have no interest in seeing Michael Elgin in the main event. Push Ciampa and let him/Cole develop a nice storyline for the belt as it's currently at an all time low.

Uh, how has it been at an all time low?

Because the belt doesn't mean nearly as much as it did during Briscoe or Steen's reign. The belt is currently being feuded over by two men who have never been main event stars in Ring Of Honor and neither man ever even picked up any steam before getting put into the title picture. Let's not forget that the former champion never even lost the belt. That's how it's at an all time low.

I wouldn't even mind Cole/Richards or Cole/Steen, but he needs someone to build his world title reign up from and Michael Elgin certainly isn't that man.

Well for one, Jay Briscoe wasnt a main eventer either (as was Kevin Steen), he was in the tag team division before being thrown into a World Title reign. Cole was building steam towards his heel run by cheating in matches against Roderick Strong and acting like it was an accident. Using the Jay Driller on Jay's brother was another sign of his big heel run. It was a slow build that was executed perfectly.

Briscoe lost the belt because his contract expired the day after Best in the World, it wouldnt be good for the company to have their World Champion free to do whatever he wanted while he had physical possession of the title. Let's be honest, his title reign wasnt anything to be amazed by, his biggest defense IMO was against his own brother.

As far as Michael Elgin goes, you can say that he was never granted his title shot and he had to go through a 16 man tournament just to even have a chance to wrestle for the belt. Not to mention Cole attacking him afterwards makes it all that much sweeter.

Cole is wrestling Steen this weekend, btw.

That's my point though ; Jay wasn't a main eventer until Steen helped him get over as one just like Steen wasn't a main eventer until Davey Richards helped him get over as one.
Cole doesn't have anyone to build off of to be seen as the top dog in the company even though he's the champion. Judging from his PWG work alone, he has the potential to be a main eventer, but I just don't see him as one in ROH. Hopefully, that will change because I like Cole, but I can't see it happening anytime soon.

I would have much rathered Elgin defeating Jay in a match for the strap and then start a program with Cole than to have that tournament. It didn't mean a whole lot to me.

Steen wasn't over before Richards put him over? Did you not watch Final Battle 2010?

Nobody said anything about being over? We're talking about being considered a real main eventer. Zack Ryder at one point was pretty over, does that mean that he should have been main eventing PPVs? No. It's completely different to be over with the crowd and to be over in a main event spot.

Davey Richards vs. Roderick Strong was officially the main event as Steen vs. Generico wasn't a sanctioned match and therefore, couldn't be called the main event. That was the only way that Cornette would let Steen & Generico go out last. Nice try though.

The fans loved Keven Steen and it's apparent when Steen came back at The Best In The World. Hell a lot of people said Steen and Corino should have been in the main event after watching Final Battle 2011.
