The Wrestling Observer recently revealed details behind a WWE memo that was sent out internally a few years back. While the memo might be old in age, it does include things that seem to still be relevant today. Below are some of the highlights:

- The phrases "five-star match" and "match of the year" are not to be used by commentators.

- Vince told announcers not to read dirt sheets any longer as he felt it influenced their performances on the air.

- Kevin Dunn told announcers not to use the phrase "title changes hands".

- Vince doesn't want WrestleMania to be called the "Granddaddy of them all" any longer, as he thinks it makes the event feel dated.

Additionally, Stephanie McMahon told announcers to stop saying simply that referees didn't see something a heel does behind their back during a match. She prefers them to say something along the lines of "the referee's vision was blocked/impaired".

Usually the referee is completely turned around so his vision wouldn't be impaired or blocked, he just wouldn't see/catch it.

This is all pretty stupid.

This one actually makes sense to me. If Cole started going "oh, this is a five star match" everyone would be complaining about WWE trying to shove it down their throats.

Especially if someone like Cena was the one wrestling, & I imagine Dead would be one of those people complaining.

They start out seeming fairly reasonable, but get progressively more ludicrous as the list goes on.

I don't see a problem with any of these really... Titles don't "change hands", you win or lose them. Calling something a five star match or match of the year every show is annoying as shite and having them say the referee's vision was impaired makes the referees not look like blithering idiots who are incompetent in their position which actually makes the show more professional.

Only one I don't get is Grandaddy of them all for WrestleMania but that's just Vince being sensitive I think.

Lame. Though nothing big here.

Grandaddy of them all probably just makes Vince feel old.
