PostSubject: XWA: FROM THE VAULT - INTERVIEW WITH THUMBTACK JACK   Tue Feb 16, 2016 12:37 pm

On old XWA I use to do Q&As with indy wrestlers, where members submitted questions, here is one from 2010 featuring deathmatch wrestler thumback jack! I also have them for lots of other wreslters if people want me to post more, I just go back into my facebook message histroy 6 years and get them

Worst injury you have ever recieved?
Definitely the torn ACL in my left knee (December 2007) and the torn PCL in my right knee (October 2010). Both injuries make life very hard for me, I'm basically always in danger of collapsing if I don't wear my Steve Austin knee braces.
BTW: While I took 5 months off after the torn ACL (which was still not enough rest), I wrestled again TWO WEEKS after tearing the PCL. And I wrestled TOD 8.5 only an additional week later. I hate to pat myself on the back, but that was fucking brave (and incredibly stupid).

Stiffest Ring you've worked in?
Random boxing ring at an even more random open air show in Germany.

-Which wrestling promotion have you got the best pay from and what was the lowest pay you ever got for wrestling in a deathmatch?

Let's put it this way... the HBO series True Blood is not the only reason why I like Alabama.

-How has deathmatch wrestling affected your body longterm wise?
Well, my knees are completely messed up (see above: torn ACL in my left knee and torn PCL in my right knee). That's by far the worst, it makes daily life rather tricky at times. Not being able to walk/run properly sucks. A LOT. I'd be lost without my knee braces.
I also broke my collar bone in 2004 and up to this day, it never healed properly. Still causes my problems every now and then.
And oh well... the scars. I'll have to live with them til the day I die, but I knew that when I got into wrestling. I don't regret having them. They are a part of me. They tell my story. They tell where I've been. They are badges of courage and souvenirs at the same time.

-What did all your friends and family think of you when you became a deathmatch wrestler?
My parents were worried, of course. After all, I was only 15 (!) when I started training professionally. And 16 when I started working shows. Up to this day, my Dad is still like "Kido, I protected you for all these years... and now look at yourself!! Scared up from head to toe." (Literally! I got a nasty scar on my right foot from my Barefoot Thumbtacks match against JC Bailey! Barbed wire + feet don't match well.)
All my friends thought it was cool, basically. And don't forget: chicks dig scars.

-When you first started wrestling was the hardcore match style something you wanted be know for from the start or was this something that kinda just happen ?

Back then, I didn't plan to build my whole reputation on hardcore matches. It just kinda happened. It's only logical that it happened, considering all the crazy stuff I have done. I got no problem with that, as long as people also respect me for my normal matches and my technical abilities. Just like Drake Younger, Danny Havoc, Scotty Vortekz and our forefather Nick Mondo, I don't need (/didn't need) to do the hardcore stuff. Guys like us just do (/did) it, because we enjoy(ed) doing it. Well, at least to a certain degre... it's not like we love pain, we can just handle it very well.
