As we noted earlier this week, Alberto Del Rio's brother Memo Montenegro was released from his WWE developmental deal, and reports are noting that officials felt he wasn't good enough in the ring.

While it has not been confirmed that WWE decided to make Vickie Guerrero the GM of Smackdown to help improve ratings, it's being reported that WWE officials are unhappy with the ratings the show is currently pulling in, and the idea to have Brad Maddox the GM of Raw and Vickie the GM of Smackdown was planned weeks ago.

I don't recall Montenegro bringing much to the table the handful of times I saw him on NXT. He had kind of a different look, maybe suited for a creepier character, but that's about it.

A real brand split would benefit Smackdown so much.

put the bigger names on Smackdown, it will draw people to Smackdown if they had a real brand split

I dont recall Montezuma ever... or whatever his name was must really be forgettable,

I like how they thought just because he was Del Rio's brother he would magically be good in the ring.

We don't know they thought that, it could be they hired him on a trial basis as a favor.

They do come from a wrestling family, though, which often times means a wrestler has a bit of a head start.

But I'm pretty sure I remember reading he had no prior wrestling experience.

Which is why he was not good in the ring. Just because you're from a wrestling family doesn't always mean that you're good. Just look at Raquel Diaz aka Shaul Guerrero.

I think the fact that they have legit GMs for both brands now means that the brand split may be reinstated... let's hope so.
