And that's the problem. People rather talk about things on Skype. |

| That's not a problem. We talk about it here and there, we are not obligated to do either. You don't control where I talk about things. "Oh, you commented about something on Youtube? How dare you, you could have said that here. " shut the hell up. |

| That's not the same. This is something regarding XWA, posted on XWA, and instead people preferred to talk about it on Skype and leave this thread to like barely 2 pages after 2-3 days. I'm not saying that is the problem with people, I'm saying that is the problem for the site, as it lowers the site's activity. There's no one to blame but that is just the simple truth. |

| It's not like we were just like "LET'S GET ON SKYPE AND DISCUSS XWA THINGS". We were having a call (something we can't even do on XWA) and the subject was brought up, among many other subjects. |

| Yeah but obviously there were things to say about this then if it was being discussed for "half an hour on Skype", yet in this thread there were hardly any posts at all. That's more of the problem with the site's activity than specifically Skype and when I made that post I wasn't blaming Skype as a whole. |

| Me stating a problem for the site is somehow me telling people what to do and what not to do. My point was this thread should have had more replies for how much effort was put into it by Myke and others but not many people cared to reply. Then a comment is made that it was discussed for 30 mins on skype yet the actual thread was barely even active the entire time since it was made. How is that not a problem FOR THE SITE? I didn't really say much either so I'm not putting blame on anyone. I'm agreeing with Myke's earlier post as well but I find it bs that Dead was singled out. It's almost pointless. It was just a little comment and I didn't expect Ian and others to take it so personally. Anyway I've now made this more of a discussion in here than the actual newsletter so that's enough.... It ain't a big deal. |

| I hate when people do that "I'm gonna continue ranting, but when I'm done, we should stop, because it's ruining the thread, totally not so I can have the last word" thing.
Dead wasn't singled out because he didn't reply to this thread, talking about the newsletter. He was singled out because he replied to this thread and chose to focus on responding to a joke rather than responding to the newsletter itself.
We discussed this newsletter, among MANY other topics, while having a Skype chat among a few people. Most of the people involved in that Skype chat also replied to this topic, stating how they felt about the newsletter. I think the only one that didn't was TJ and he hardly ever posts outside of the Shoutbox. We're allowed to discuss what we wish on Skype, even if it's something that can be discussed here. It's not like us talking about it on Skype prevented us from saying anything on here. We don't need to reply to the topic a shit ton of times saying how much we liked it. |

| I actually hate the last word thing too but I couldn't care less about getting the last word on that. Instead of "that's enough" I should've just said I'm personally done with it. Razor or anyone can respond but that last post is enough on the topic for me. |

| Because there shouldn't be a debate here. There's right and wrong. We're right, you're wrong. Deal with it. You cant ban us from talking on Skype, that's essentially what you want to do. |

| Alright, so since you guys decided to continue this debate in my thread, I'm going to give my input.
Both Razor and Burdur are right and wrong.
It cannot be controlled if people are having conversations on Skype or any other platform. People tend to make friends on message boards and exchange info (Facebook, Skype, phone numbers, etc..) and those people will most likely talk to others outside the message boards. That's to be expected. That's obviously allowed. When I say "Down with Skype" I typically mean it in the sense of "If it can be brought to the forums, why not just bring it there?" (even though it doesn't always come out that way, but whatever). People can talk on Skype, obviously, is what I'm trying to say there.
However, to bring up what Ian said: he was talking about it with Justin and TJ. In this case, they were all having a conversation about stuff in general and something was brought up about the Newsletter. Well... what was said? Was it good? Was it bad? *I* don't know. And *I* should know in this example because I'm the one who put it together. Whether it's positive or negative, I should be informed because it can help future issues. Justin said how he felt. That's great. So did Ian. What about TJ? And no, this isn't me attacking TJ or anything. If TJ said something in the Skype chat about the Newsletter... it's greatly appreciated if it's said here. I cannot force him to say how he feels, but if he's talking about it on Skype, why not tell me or share it in this thread? It doesn't have to be word-for-word what he said. But again, in this situation, it can help future issues. The only real feedback I have received so far (I sent out some PMs) was that H2H was a tad long. I can bring that up with Chilly, and boom: fixed.
When it comes to talking about the site on Skype or whatever, again, it cannot be forced that it shouldn't happen. But depending on what gets talked about, then it would be a good thing to relay some of that information back to the forums if the creator of whatever is being talked about isn't involved. Like if a conversation about H2H occurred on Skype and Chilly wasn't involved. If they're just talking about teams, okay that's no big deal. Yet what if somebody thinks the points were wrong? Or... think Chilly could do something differently that may help it? If Chilly isn't in on the conversation and it's never brought up... how would he know? It's the same thing here. Ian didn't have to comment in this thread. If he didn't comment in it, I wouldn't know he enjoyed the Newsletter, despite him talking about it on Skype. Unless somebody else went "Oh, btw, Ian liked it."
Another example: if people are talking about XWAP on Skype and Dead isn't there. If they're ideas to help XWAP and are never brought up... that doesn't help XWAP.
So to summarize: it's okay to talk on Skype, but if it's site-related in a way that could help the site or a feature, something should also be said on the site itself. Not word-for-word, but something because it helps the site, and that's the whole point. That cannot be forced though, it's only appreciated and a nice gesture. |
