Veteran cornerback Cortland Finnegan announced his retirement Wednesday after a nine-year career with the Tennessee Titans, the St. Louis Rams and most recently the Miami Dolphins.
Finnegan posted a message on Instagram to deliver the news of his decision.
Miami cut Finnegan on March 2 in order to save $5.475 million in cap room. Finnegan recorded 44 tackles and zero interceptions in his only season in Miami.
In his Instagram message, Finnegan, 31, also took a parting shot at rival receiver Andre Johnson, with whom the cornerback got into an on-field fight in 2010.
Finnegan was a seventh-round pick of the Titans in 2006. He made one Pro Bowl and finished his career with 645 tackles and 18 interceptions.
