As he’s said in the past, Chris Jericho has once again confirmed that he’ll never return to the WWE full time. In an interview with The Tampa Bay Times to promote a live event tonight, Y2J spoke about his various projects, including his returns to WWE. Here are highlights:

On if he’ll ever return full time to WWE: “No. I have so much other stuff going on that it would almost be a step backwards, performing-wise. The weekend shows are amazing, and I am always glad to be a part of it. But I couldn’t do it as a full-time thing a gain. My career as a full-time wrestler is long gone, for about the past four or five years now, really. I’ve been really fortunate, from the band to the podcast, and I’m out in Hollywood working, too, so the dream has kind of taken off.”

On why he likes doing live events: “It’s improv. It’s a little more fan interactive. With the TV shows, everything is meticulously timed. There is five minutes for this and 12 minutes for that. At the live show, you work until you’re done. You’re allowed to finish the match. The differences in TV and the live events are massive in some ways and small in others. True wrestling fans know there are pros and cons to both. There is more wrestling and less talking sometimes at the live events.”

On if he’ll be a part of any upcoming TV events: “I really don’t think so. The live events are always so stress-free. You can do whatever you want. They don’t have specific storylines you are beholden to. There’s a lot of TV that has to be perfectly timed to be watched by 5 million people. In the live event, it’s just for the people in the crowd. We stress the fun.”

I think Jericho's been boring for a while now. His feud with Punk has been the only thing I've legitimately enjoyed him in since pre-2010. He's one of the all-time best, but he's just been shit the last few years.

^ I wouldn't say he's shit. He can still garner a good pop everytime he's back. 


It's just you know he's back to push someone and lose a match for them. So the ends of his returns are pretty much predictable.

He's not shit, he's just so boring. His matches are the same boring thing over and over again. His promos are as well. He used to be amazing at being heel or face, but his recent face runs are just ... well, boring. Let him have another run as a heel, at least.

It would be a waste of time to have him invest his character in a feud if its only going to last a month.

I agree with Snoopz, and I'm a huge Y2J mark. I'd rather not even see him return that see him return just to be average.

It's not that he's boring, it's just tiring to see someone comeback for like a months or two and then fuck off until the next time. You just expect it too much now.

He's not winning titles or anything and usually tries to boost a younger talent, so I'm fine with it, but it's just meh at this point.

I respect the hell out of Jericho for coming back to work with younger talents and help give them a push, but I do have to agree with what's been said here. I don't know if boring is the right word to use, but I'd say his last few runs and programs have been ineffective. He could use another major angle to re-legitimize himself, so that a win over Jericho becomes a big deal again.

One of the GOATs of his generation. Awesome that he doesn't have to come back full time to support his lifestyle. Never hate on a guy who blazed his path taking bumps, and now doesn't need to.
