Hogan was at the right place at the right time. I don't think he would have gotten over in The AWA as much if their average main eventer wasn't 40/50 years old.

And if Hulkamania didn't take off, the 80's boom wouldn't have happen and WWF would have died a long time ago.

Vince could have gotten a different Superstar Billy Graham rip off. I mean Austin Idol was just about as skilled in the ring as Hogan.

This whole thing about anyone could have pull that off is just stupid. They could attempted it, but wouldn't have made it work as like Terry Bollea made it work. Fucking no one could have made it work like he did. His larger then life appearance, his Charisma couldn't be match.

His charisma couldnt of been matched? Roddy Piper being the biggest fucking heel in the WWF at that time, says otherwise. Randy Savage had as much charisma as Hogan did, yet he never got that push because he wasnt a jacked up freak like Hogan was. Anyone can pull off the big face role if given the chance and the fans get behind it. For fucks sake the Warrior was the top guy for a while and he barely had any charisma, yet the fans ate that shit up.

Hogan was the one who got the hugest fucking reactions each night, it was Hogan who was in the fucking biggest demand. The shows Hogan worked where the shows that got the money people to come to it. It was because of Hogan and Andre feud that was able to create the other three big PPVs.

As amazing as Piper and Savage where, they didn't have the factors that Hogan had. He was the fucking biggest shark in the tank, whom yes over stayed his welcome, but he was the one carrying that company on his fucking back for all those fucking years.

He was getting the biggest reactions because he was put in that position to get the biggest reactions. He was the one being the face in peril half the time, he was the one given the most promo time, the biggest push.When all of the company's time is being put into one dude in advertisements and shit like that, of COURSE people are going to want to see that one guy. It's happening today with John Cena. Even though there are other guys way more over and better as a whole than Cena, all of the company's investment is going into one guy. It's why they tell people at shows where Cena isnt advertised, they can get refunds after a certain period during the show. They're basically saying "John Cena isnt here, so you dont have to stay and see all the other talent we dont bother to put any time into".

So yeah, with the right push and the right investment into your character, you can be as big as the guy before you. They shoved Hogan down everyone's throat and he ended up being bigger than Bruno Sammartino. Bret and Shawn came after him, but never got the same treatment as Hogan did and the next GUY didnt come till Austin.

Daniel Bryan proved you dont need to be 6'6 and 270 pounds of chiseled mass to be worth a damn to the audience in wrestling. So did CM Punk. Seth Rollins is on his way to being the biggest heel wrestling has seen in years. That's the point im trying to prove in regards to Hogan and his spot and how he got that spot. The company's investment in Hogan is why Hogan became as big as he did. You dont need to look like a bodybuilder to be at the top of the pack, all you need is Vince to believe in what he has, and the crowd to accept you. If you have both of those, you're destined to be a star.

It's not like wrestling as a whole did better because of Hulk Hogan. Pro Wrestling did get more mainstream attention.

And the factors you speck of... Do you mean steroids? That's the only thing I can think of that Hogan had over Piper and Savage at that point.

The fans accepted Hogan and the rest was history. He help bring wrestling to high peaks more then once. In the 80's with Hulkamania and in the 90s with the n.W.o. The fans could have rejected him, but they didn't because Hogan's factor was the ability to connect with the fans much easier than anyone else, especially with little kids with his super hero larger then life presents.

It was the gimmick, at the right time, in the right era, the right boss, the right company, and the right man for the job.

Hogan is one of the best in ring story tellers of his era. He knew how to create atmosphere, to give people chills when he was facing someone like this was a big fucking deal. Hogan had the ability to turn crowds in his favor. He was able to turn everyone at Wm18 against the rock. Even in TNA, at Bound for Glory which took place in a very smarky ass city. He was able to turn those smarks into Hogan fans for that night.

Yes he over stayed his welcome in a time when he should have gave the ball to warrior and allowed him to run with it. But the impact Hogan made in wrestling is something that will be seen for years to come. It was the success of Hulkamania that help make Vince a Billionaire, It was because of Hulkamania that made kids like Edge want to become wrestlers themselves.

Vince and Hogan turned Wrestling into a titan of entertainment. You can talk shit about how they drove everyone out of business. It was because of their stupidity of not keeping up with the times that caused them to fall. You want to talk about Hogan's politics. The man was so good at it he made most republicans jealous. But you act like Hogan is the only man to do it, or the first man to do it. There have been people way before Hogan's time that where slime balls backstage. Today there are slime balls backstage, even in companies like ROH. Welcome to fucking wrestling, it's a dog eat dog business. If you can't handle that shit, then don't get into it.

Nobody's undercutting anything, you keep pretending that Hogan was the ONLY ONE that could of been pushed to the moon successfully when that's simply not the case.
