For those of you excited to see the legendary ape known as King Kong rise again in 2016, you might want to dial it back just a little bit.
Legendary’s Skull Island has been officially renamed to Kong: Skull Island. Okay, that’s not bad. Gives it a recognizable name that will draw people’s attention much faster. But the harsh news comes down that the film has been shifted from November 4, 2016 to Friday, March 10, 2017. Ouch.
The film will star Tom Hiddleston (Avengers) and will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. It will see a 3D and IMAX 3D release.
The story, “…will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.“
