Peter Jackson is to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next month.
The director of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies will be honoured on December 8, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Oscar winner will have his star placed outside the Dolby Theatre, which is the venue for the Academy Awards ceremonies.
Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies Ana Martinez said: "We are very happy to honour such an esteemed filmmaker as Peter Jackson with a star on the Walk of Fame.
"His groundbreaking and award-winning films are part of the legacy of larger-than-life, Hollywood-style entertainment that is beloved the world over."
Andy Serkis, who has appeared in both trilogies as Gollum, will be acting as guest speaker at the unveiling of the star.
The ceremony is also expected to be attended by franchise veterans including Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Richard Armitage and Elijah Wood.
The final instalment in the Hobbit trilogy, The Battle of the Five Armies, is released in the UK on December 12 and in the US on December 17.
