Jennifer Connelly has joined the upcoming adaptation of American Pastoral.
The Noah actress will star opposite Ewan McGregor in the movie version of Philip Roth's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
Phillip Noyce is on board to direct Lakeshore Entertainment's third Roth adaptation. Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing American Pastoral.
Rosenberg said: "Jennifer Connelly is one of the great actresses of our time. We always wanted her to play Dawn in American Pastoral and we're thrilled to be working with her."
The film follows Seymour 'Swede' Levov, a blonde Jewish businessman living in Newark, New Jersey, whose ordinary life is disturbed by the chaos of the 1960s under the presidency of JFK's successor Lyndon B Johnson.
McGregor will take on the role of Levov, while Connelly will play his wife Dawn.
American Pastoral will begin shooting in early 2015.
