M4 | Rob Chapman vs. LJ Summers Empty

DING DING DING
The bell rings to kick off what is sure to be an intriguing matchup between The ANZAC Warrior, LJ Summers, and The Silent Protagonist, Rob Chapman. Summers, making his XWA return, looks to prove his mettle against one of the finalists in the Intercontinental Title tournament. The two begin to circle around the ring, and it's pretty obvious which one of them is the stronger competitor; strong as Chapman is, Summers stands nearly six inches taller than the Canadian combatant, and outweighs him by a total of thirty pounds. Not to mention, the Aussie is built like a brick shithouse; a fact that has most certainly played a large part in him acquiring a position as the bodyguard of Travis Levitt, who stands on the outside of the ring to witness his associate's performance. As the two snap toward each other to engage in a tie-up, Chapman catches LJ right on the chin with a Jumping Knee Strike! To say that LJ hadn't been expecting that would be an understatement, driven home even further as he begins to batter his opponent's abdomen and thigh with repeating round kicks coming from both sides, backing Summers towards the corner turnbuckle! Levitt looks on from ringside with an expression of worry- or possibly, dissatisfaction, but it's quickly repaced by a smirk as his associate catches Chapman's leg at the knee, hooking it under one arm, while the other arm quickly hooks Rob's in a Uranage fashion; the big man doesn't hesitate to throw his weight backwards, and Rob is sent flying upside-down into the corner turnbuckles by a T-Bone from the Oceanic Suplex Machine!

The crowd pops as Chapman gets tossed across the ring like a rag doll, falling right on his head as he lays upside down in the corner and then topples over. After his actions against C5 Ion last week, they'll cheer just about anyone for giving him a beating.

Ted
"LJ Summers with an excellent T-Bone Suplex on Rob Chapman, right into the turnbuckles! I think I see exactly what Travis Levitt sees in this guy, and that's pure, unrelenting power."

Joey
"No shit. He looks like someone painted the Incredible Hulk beige. He's like Axel Anvil, except better at being an Australian, and not fucking terrible."

As LJ lifts up the  crumpled heap that is Chapman's body, he casts Levitt a glance for a moment and the pair of them exchange a nod of approval. Standing the Haligonian up, Summers takes a hold of Chapman's arm and wrenches it around his body, locking it at a downward arc before giving it a sudden, stiff yank and sending him packing across the ring with an Irish Whip. Summers is quick to meet Chapman as he bounds back, lifting the Straight Edge Outlaw into the lights with a Military Press! Rob is released almost immediately from nearly eight feet above the ring floor, but somehow manages to get himself turned in mid-air and land on both feet behind Summers! Levitt alerts Summers immediately about his opponent's landing but as he turns around, he's dropped to his knees as Rob delivers an Enzuigiri to the big man! Dead set on taking the big man down, Lionheart continues his violent rhythm as he steps up off of the Australian's knee, and his right foot sails toward the the base of LJ's skull- and hits air as Summers ducks his head down and avoids a second kick from an all-too-eager Chapman. Rob lands on his hands, bracing himself for something. What that something is, we never discover, as Summers quickly wraps his arms around his opponent's waist and resumes a towering vertical base, throwing his weight backwards as he delivers Chapman to the canvas with a Wheelbarrow Suplex! Summers bridges his body as Rob lands on his neck to pin him, but Chapman kicks out just shy of a two-count, much to Summers' chagrin. That doesn't stop Levitt from applauding his bodyguard's excellently executed counter, bringing a grin right back to the Aussie's face in spite of his opponent's prolonged survival.

The crowd gives a decent POP for the well-scouted and downright devastating counter from Summers, though their reaction quickly subverts to a mixed bag as Chapman powers out at an early two.

Ted
"Two count only after the Wheelbarrow Suplex by LJ Summers! That was quick thinking on the part of The ANZAC Warrior!"

Joey
"Throwing a guy who's in a position to be thrown is quick thinking? Thanks, Theodore! I had zero fuckin' idea!"

It becomes apparent to the Haligonian that his opponent is waiting in some capacity; he begins to push himself up onto all fours, uninhibited, and looks up just in time to see the big man taking off into the far ropes. The Southern Star bounds back toward Chapman as  he rises, swinging his arm in a vicious Lariat attempt that the cognitive Canadian just barely avoids. Before LJ has a chance to turn around, he's again blasted across the back of the head by Chapman's foot. This time, LJ goes all the way down; the Super Kick serves as a total Eclipse for LJ, but Chapman chooses not to pin his adversary. In fact... he doesn't appear to be doing much aside from looming over him. Just standing. Standing tall. Levitt begins to yell something from the outside, but Rob blocks it out, and turns toward the referee. He motions to Jack; something with his wrist. As if tapping a watch.

Meaning what?

Time?

Yes, time.

Time to count.

Ted
"Total Eclipse, and Summers is down! That's the same damn cheap shot that took out C5 Ion last week!"

Joey
"Yeah, absolutely the same fuckin' move, minus the whole ten-foot-fall-face-first-into-the-barricade part! "

Ted
"The bigger they are, the harder they fall, Joey!"

Joey
"But that... that doesn't even... THAT DOESN'T EVEN FUCKING WORK HERE YOU FAT, RETARDED FUCK!"

Jack drops, expecting to count a pinfall, but he's mis-interpreted the instruction... as Rob suddenly leaves the ring and  begins to walk up the ramp. His back completely turned in a disgusting display of ignorance toward his opponent, toward the fans, and quite possibly toward the company itself. Most certainly, towards wrestling itself. The referee begins to count.

"One!

Two!"

LJ begins to stir, climbing up onto all fours and looking out of the ring with a mix of anger and confusion. "Oi, what the does this fuck muppet think he's doing? Do we not have a match here?"

"Three! Four! Five!"

Travis shakes his head and consults LJ from the outside, who appears to be completely fine, now. The two seem to be debating whether or not to go after Chapman, but they decide to leave it. Considering that most of the in-ring action was Chapman getting punked by LJ at most given opportunities, it's safe to say that the match would have gone that way pretty much the entire time.

Maybe.

Ted
"Aw, come on! This is just pathetic!"

Joey
"Ted, would you wanna fight a guy who looks like Guile from Street Fighter in real life, days before a title match? Let alone at all?"

Ted
"He's a goddamn wrestler Joey! It's his job!"

"Six! Seven! Eight!"

As Rob reaches the top of the stage, he stops and turns around. Glaring straight into his opponent's eyes from twenty feet away. Watching and listening as Jack Hammer counts the final counts.

"Nine!

Ten!"

Ted
"Well, there you have it, folks. Your winner. Unfortunately, Chapman probably feels like he won in his mind, even though he didn't do a damn thing. Or more specifically, because he didn't."

Jack signals for the bellkeeper to ring said bell and call an end to this match, rather disgracefully.

Laura Watts
"Ladies and gentlemen! Your winner, by a countout! LJ Summers!"

Chapman sneers from the top of the ramp as he takes in the boos from the understandably-enraged crowd. This match had no importance; not to him, at least. He would take the Intercontinental Title at Revolutionary Wars. His place in the match was already guaranteed. This match was nothing more than an exhibition. And now, it was a no contest. Chapman would meet LJ... another day. Another time, and another place. But tonight? Tonight, Rob was going to go relax... and finalize a certain sale. Chapman raises a hand skyward, and points a single finger upward, before bringing it down and pointing to his waist. Motioning around his hips where a title would soon sit. With that little display out of the way, Chapman walks through the curtain, leaving Summers, Levitt, and the XWA Universe undeniably pissed off.

His moment is coming.

Vendetta fades to a commercial break.

(I just don't have it in me to do a full sized post today. I'm sorry, Ace. Sad We'll have another match soon and tear the house down for sure, but I just can't muster it this week. Things have been very draining in real life lately. That said, I did try to at least make this storyline-entertaining. Good luck, not that you'll need it Funny)
