I'm copy and pasting this from the GM place after Ian told us to post it here. I posted there first anyway, because I'm awesome like that. Just read it and let us know what you think.

I've decided to go and look at some of the old feds I was in, to see if there was anything worth stealing. I found one old promo fed which had a section called "personal archives," which was described like this:

"Personal Archives
Want a thread of your character's promos, BtS, and/or matches? Put it in here. Both for those who want to post things that happened before this board and those who want to keep a running history of what they've done with the character."

So inside there you'd have, for example, a thread entitled "Minkaro's Archives" (although on this site they've all got names like "a sniper's journal ." or "Behind the Weed: The Andrew Stone Story" and then inside that thread I'd put all the promos and matches that I'd written as Minkaro.

Now, I don't know how many people would be interested in this, and obviously it'd be something that people would have to keep maintained for themselves, but I thought it worth bringing up at least.

Also, what about interview? I know we've got the STP Lounge and The Generic Interview on the forums in general, but what about purely in-character interviews with similar questions? Give people a chance to really explore the character? That'd require somebody to actually ask the questions though, and I'm not volunteering for that job because I'm rubbish at it.

It's useful for people such as myself that are relatively new here and don't really know the history of some characters, so I'm all for this idea.

I've been wanting to start a fed interview segment for bloody years. So make that happen or puppies will die.

And I think the archives idea is cool, but ONLY if people keep all their gear to one thread. So like the first post acts like an index page with links to all their promos and matches posted in that thread (I know you can get URLs to specific posts, just don't know how). I think if people posted match after match in different threads, it gets just a clusterfuck that would be boring to spend time going through.

I agreed this was a good idea, but only if people were interested in it.

I'm interesting as I said, since thankfully a lot of my work was saved personally, not all of it unfortunately, but most of it.

So are people up for this or what? I'm honestly interested in setting it up.

How do you do the post link majiggy like in Ru's thread?

When you first make the post, copy the link.  That's how I've done it so far anyway.  That, or if it's the most recent post, you can click the little box for first unread/newest post, and it'll give the link for the post that shows up when you open the thread.

You can also get the link to your posts by editing them and re-submitting.
