Don't know how much of that is flashy computer wizardry and how much is actual gameplay. Doesn't seem very likely that you can combo off of opponent's hits the way it's been displayed in this video.

Back on topic: It's not totally impossible for there to be an engine like that. Could be that they've re-worked the counter system, which I hope they have because I hated accidentally triggering it in MK9 and losing most of my X-Ray Meter. It's also possible that it's a mini-game of sorts initiated when you attack simultaneously, like a quicktime battle or something. Since it's possible to blend pre-rendered cutscenes and gameplay so seamlessly on the new consoles (as that Fatality most clearly was), it wouldn't be that surprising if it were something along those lines. Possibliy initiated like the clashes in Injustice. Hell, MK9 did a good job of that in story mode and that was on the PS3, with a fraction of the memory available to it.

It's also possible that that part; along with some of the stuff Scorpion does with his spear, was done specifically for the sake of the trailer looking awesome. It did, however, appear to be made up primarily of actual gameplay, which I appreciate, since most trailers these days are solely pre-rendered movies done up like movie trailers, but less honest.

The graphics look slick, the ability to interact with the environment (a-la Injustice) looks pretty awesome, and more refined than its predecessor, and the actual impacts of the strikes looks... well, more realistic than in a lot of fighting games. I'm not sure how else to really put that, but Street Fighter (no hate) is a good example, where they just stagger back or fall with a small set of damage animations depending on where and how they're hit, while the bodily reactions to being struck in this actually seem kinda realistic. Here's really hoping it's not all just cutscene.

Ahhhh! Biased ass commercial. Sub Zero should've won! Fuck you, Scorpion! Sub's my favorite "hero" (not really a good guy but not a villain.) If I ever get this game, I'm killing Scorpion as Sub-Zero first.


Also, game looks awesome. I hope they add a DC character into it like how they added Scorpion in Injustice.

MK vs. DC did poorly for many reasons. And most fans of MK that I know were not pleased to see Scorpion in Injustice, although I will admit that he was fun as hell to play. Most of the DC characters have designs that are a little too cartoony for MK, although I might be less reluctant if they chose to give us somebody like Deathstroke or Killer Frost who's aesthetic fits in with the game better than Batman or Superman.

That said, I still don't want a DC character in MK, the same as I don't want another MK character in DC. Although it probably will happen. And I will be slightly less annoyed with it than I was with Freddy in MK9.

Injustice 2 was confirmed to be in development a little while ago so there's not much reason to cross-promote the two this time around, to be honest, as they likely won't be years apart or even a year apart.  

Oh yeah! I heard about Injustice 2. I look forward to it. Hope they add a lot more characters.

Also, Deathstroke would actually be the best bet if they were to put a DC character in MK. Mainly cause he's an actual killer, whereas Batman or Superman wouldn't kill and you'd get their "Fatalities" from MK vs DC.

I can agree with most of that. I'm really hoping for some surprises in Injustice 2. Booster Gold, Steel, Beast Boy, Circe, and a Batman villain that isn't The Joker, Harley Quinn, or Bane (Penguin, Two-Face, Hush, Scarecrow... fuck, anybody lol) would all be very welcome additions for me. I'm sure we'll get some stupid shit too, like Doctor Fate, but it'll hopefully all balance out.

On the MK side, I'm really interested to see which characters are still alive after the events of 9, and if any that were killed are back. I'm really hoping they kept Smoke around, since his MK9 ending basically stated that he could self-resurrect, and he was one of my favourite characters.

I personally REALLY REALLY want Ra's Al Ghul. Him and Deathstroke are my favorite villains, so I was very disappointed that they didn't put him in. The problem with those villains is that they're not very good in combat lol. Two-Face can't fight very well, neither can Scarecrow or Hush or Penguin. The only Bat rogues I can see added are Ra's, Ivy, and maybe Killer Croc.

Also, I'd like to see Darkseid (which doesn't make sense cause he's in the mobile version of Injustice but not in the actual game...) Braniac, Hades, Robin, Malcolm Merlyn/Black Arrow Beast Boy would be cool too - like you said, not that big on Circe or Booster Gold though. Also would like to see some of the rogues from Arkham Origins like Copperhead, Deadshot, Lady Shiva, or Firefly, but that may be asking for too much.

Sindel, actually. She killed the fuck out of 85% of the cast. The only hero survivors at the end of the game were Raiden, Johnny Cage, and Sonya. And Kenshi, but Kenshi wasn't in the main story. Everyone else is dead as shit. All of the villains, however, except for Noob Saibot (I think) and Shao Kahn are still alive and kicking. I don't remember if Shang Tsung survived or not.

Back to Injustice, Killer Croc and Lady Shiva would be cool. Robin technically was in as Nightwing. Two of them, in fact. I don't see Braniac working, though. I would enjoy Booster if he were in as his time cop self. Not as the comedic shithead he is in DCUO. The Spectre and Parasite would be cool as well. I could also see Spectre being a cool cameo in MKX.

I think you misread that; Kahn definitely went away at the end of 9. I'm not sure if they actually killed him, though. It was kinda vague.

Sindel is the reason I'm not sure that Shang Tsung is alive. I'd have to check the wiki. I think someone gave Sindel the power of Shang's souls which is why she was able to fuck everyone up so badly. I forgot that they killed her off too though. xD I really need to play it again, or at least read the wiki to remember what the fuck is going on

And there's definitely some DC Universe where Spectre isn't Hal Jordan, as you encounter him in DCUO and you're fighting along side both Hal Jordan and Green Arrow.

My writing was shit there. Raiden beats Kahn at the end of the game, whereas Sindel just kills most of the good guys. I think Nightwolf ends up being the one to kill Sindel via electric suicide hug.

^ Believe me, you wouldn't be saying that if you've played that battle. Story aside, that is one of the hardest fucking end boss fights I've ever played in a game. He's never as difficult or cheap in arcade mode as he is in the last battle in story mode.

Khan with his shitty OP shield is a pain in the ass. You constantly have to spam jump over him and hope he stands still just to get a hit on him

A few years back, Boon said that they wanted to reboot the series with a fresh cast after the events of Armageddon (:-X) before Midway went bankrupt and they got picked up by Netherrealm. Not sure if that's the route they're still going to go, but MK9 was the perfect setup to do so. They've still got a few fan favourites alive (Cage, Sonya, Mileena, Kano, possibly Cyrax/Sektor) and are hopefully capable of better character design than they were from MK4 on >.>

Cheesed the fuck out of that fight 'cause I hate playing as Raiden. Ermac's stupidly long combos is/were where it's at.

And yes, that teleport eventually lead me to victory. The timing of it, however, is stupidly precise because if you go too early, he'll turn around mid-animation and hit you anyway, and if you're too late, he'll just turn and hit you again.

If you're looking for full cheese, I gun spammed him with Stryker for two straight rounds simply out of spite after beating story mode
