Capcom unveiled a new Ace Attorney game earlier this week, and it's coming to the Nintendo 3DS — at least in Japan. Capcom told IGN, "This title is not confirmed for the west."

Revealed in Famitsu (via a scan of the magazine by Twitter user Lite Agent), the new Ace Attorney 3DS game is reportedly set during Japan's Meija era, 1868 to 1912, when the country transformed from a feudal society to its more modern form, as translated by Tiny Cartridge. In addition, the title features a new main character, who appears to be an ancestor of series mainstay Phoenix Wright.

Ace Attorney creator Shu Takimi is helming the project after skipping Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney -- Duel Destinies, which came to the west late last year. IGN thought the latest Ace Attorney game was a worthy follow-up for longtime fans, though it won't convert newcomers to the franchise.

The Ace Attorney series also mashed up with the Professor Layton franchise in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which is out in Europe but still awaiting a release date in North America. IGN called the title a unique crossover in its review.
