WCW Monday Night Nitro: Monday, April 4thWCW Monday Night Nitro comes to you live from Atlanta, Georgia at the Statefarm Arena. The commentary team, Jerry "The King" Lawler, "The Professor" Mike Tenay and "InfoWars.com's Very Own, Alex Jones. We have an exciting night of matches here tonight as we witness the rebirth of WCW. The main event will feature Bryan Danielson taking on Samoa Joe in the first round of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship tournament.
CM Punk makes his way to the ring to a massive ovation. Punk tells everyone that if they were fearing Shane McMahon, they don't have to worry. This is a hands off show, a show where the only thing the McMahon family will be doing is signing the cheques. Punk promises no McMahon family interference on this show. Punk says they're incompetent and says there's a reason the ratings are where they are. Punk continues running down the McMahon family and the fans are loving it. The Evolution theme plays and a red Triple H makes his way to the ring followed by Charlotte Flair, MJF and Wardlow. The group make their way to the ring and circle Punk. Eat hit their finisher on Punk and Triple H nails some sledge hammer shots. Punk is out of it. Hunter takes the mic and burns CM Punk. Tells him that he's not going to sit there and listen to a vanilla midget run down his family. Triple H asks what better time than now to introduce the new incarnation of Evolution.
Match One: WCW World Heavyweight Title Tournament Round 1, Match 1Bron Steiner w/ Scott and Rick Steiner defeats Jack Swagger
Hard hitting match between the two former collegiate athletes. Easily two of the most athletic men that WCW has to offer. The 2nd generation, Bron Steiner wins the match with the Steiner Recliner and moves onto the next round.
After the match, Scott Steiner hops on the mic and starts yelling about Bron is the future of wrestling and will be the next WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
Match Two: Women's Title Triple Threat Eliminator Match 1Raquel Gonzalez defeats Molly Holly and Kris Statlander
Raquel Gonzalez comes off looking very dominate as she takes down the two lighter women. Another quicker match like the first one. Molly and Statlander get a decent amount of offence in but Gonzalez gets the pin on Molly.
Match Three: WCW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Round 1 Match 2MJF w/ Evolution (Triple H, Charlotte Flair and Wardlow) Defeats Bronson Reed
Before the match, MJF hops on the mic and says that CM Punk's comeback is over before it began. Shane may not be here, and Triple H may not be an authority power but they run things around here. MJF and Reed have a competitive match and Bronson Reed looks strong throughout. In typical heel fashion, Triple H distracts the ref and MJF low blows Reed and hits the Heatseaker and gets the pin to move on against Bron Breakker next week.
The commentary team hypes the main event and Alex Jones mentions that he's heard the nWo is around. Tenay and King blow it off and say they haven't been around in years.
Match Four: WCW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Round 1 Match 3
Samoa Joe defeats JBLAnother hard hitting match in the World Heavyweight Title Tournament. Both veterans of the ring, and both World Champions before. Samoa Joe ends up getting the win and advances in the tournament via Ref Stoppage after a Coquina Clutch.
Bryan Danielson's music hits and outcomes perhaps the greatest professional wrestler of his generation. Danielson says that he was excited when he was drafted here. He names the legendary wrestlers and teams of WCW past. Bryan stops when he gets to the Four Horsemen. Bryan says the Four Horsemen are an interesting group. Bryan brings up a preposition from the Nature Boy, Ric Flair. Bryan reveals that Ric's been trying to get a group together. A new Horsemen. Obviously with the world we're in, he can wrestle now. Bryan says the one thing he's never done is been part of a truly legendary stable and now this is his chance.
Flair's music hits and the Nature Boy comes out. Flair he's 3 got other guys for this group, and needs Bryan to be the new version of himself. A Flair for the Modern Age. An eco-friendly Flair. Bryan says he's the original Bryan Danielson, to which Flair counters and says he can be the legendary Bryan Danielson with him. Danielson ponders it, before asking Flair who the other 3 are. Flair says Cody Rhodes and The Revival, 3 of the top wrestlers in the game today.
Match Five: WCW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Round 1 Match 4Bryan Danielson defeats Wade Barrett
Danielson and Barrett have a technical match. This is Barrett's first match in years and he doesn't appear to have match ring rust. Danielson shows off his technical prowess and ends up beating Barrett with a sunset flip.
The show ends with Bryan doing the Yes chant in the ring. After the match, commentator and legendary wrestler, Jerry the King lawler enters the ring to interview Bryan. King congratulates Bryan and says Bryan has a lot to think about. Bryan he hears Flair's offer but he's only focused on winning the World Heavyweight Championship. He'll think about it but he isn't sure if that's the best idea.
