Electronic Arts' Peter Moore was "surprised" by comments made by a GameStop executive who said Star Wars Battlefront had "underperformed".

As reported by Eurogamer, GameStop's Tony Bartel told investors that the sci-fi shooter - along with Halo 5: Guardians and Assassin's Creed Syndicate - had not performed as the retailer had anticipated since its release on November 20, 2015.

"We're not going to quantify it in terms of actual numbers," Bartel said, "but we had high expectations that diminished somewhat as it got closer and it failed to hit those lowered expectations."

Electronic Arts' COO Peter Moore responded by saying that it was "interesting" and a "little bit of a surprise, particularly as the CFO in the call then started to correct [Bartel] as the call went on", and confirmed that Battlefront was still on course to hit its target - 13 million copies sold by the end of March 2016 - as anticipated.

In an EA investor briefing, Moore added: "So from our perspective I'm here to reaffirm our guidance of 13m units sold in for the fiscal year.

"There is no weakness that is perceptible yet in the title and I want everybody to understand that based on where we think this title is - and based on the marketing beats ahead of us, in particular, the movie launch over the next two weeks - we feel very comfortable we're going to hit the guidance that we've given analysts, investors and Wall Street alike."

The Battle of Jakku DLC will be available for all Battlefront players, for free, from December 8, 2015, although the pack is available now to those who pre-ordered the game. Developer DICE recently confirmed that it will add "more of what you love" for free, as well as paid content such as that included in the Season Pass.
