The PlayStation 4's 3.00 system update will roll out from tomorrow.
The update, codenamed Kenshin, introduces a significant number of UI enhancements and brand-new features to the PlayStation 4 dashboard.
Included in the update is Request to Share Play and Broadcast, a feature that enables you to watch a friend play, or - with your friend's permission - try a game out yourself.
A new Events app has been added, which will give you "an overview of activities taking place in the games you play most", and you can now also join communities based around shared games and genres. Live from PlayStation aims to keep you updated on the hottest gaming trends by "viewing the most popular broadcasts, video clips, and screenshots uploaded from around the world".
The new update also introduces Favourite Groups, making it easier to chat to the people you play with most often, and keep updated on their PlayStation activity.
A dedicated PlayStation Plus section has been added to your home screen, which makes it easier to spot and download your free monthly games, as well as other offers and promotions driven through the PS Plus program. Online storage for PS4 saves has been bumped up to 10GB.
It's now easier to share clips and images (which can now be saved as a higher quality PNG format) to Twitter, and you'll be able to livestream directly to YouTube, too.
Sony won't likely be releasing a PlayStation Vita successor anytime soon, as SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida recently said that he doesn't believe there's room for one in the current market, thanks to the popularity of smartphone gaming.
