It's been assumed that because Martin Freeman has been cast in a mysterious role in Captain America: Civil War, he'll be playing a villain.
The reality of that assumption might not be as cut and dry, according to the actor's description of his Civil War character.
In an interview with Bad Taste, Freeman described his character as working "in conjunction with the superheroes and certain agencies that help to tame superheroes' power."
"You're not actually quite sure which side he's on," said Freeman. "It looks like he's playing one game when actually he's playing another."
Freeman admitted to enjoying playing the character "because you don't know whether he's good or bad." The full interview response is in the video below.
Freeman is one of many characters in Captain America: Civil War, which will mark the return of a "much different" General Ross (William Hurt) and the debut of new Spider-Man Tom Holland.
