Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will be released in 190 markets globally on July 29.
The next-generation operating system will be issued as a free download for users on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, an offer that is eligible throughout the first year.
Microsoft is also releasing the software for Windows Phone 8 devices as a free upgrade, but it will not be on mobiles at launch.
Windows 10 is designed to be a seamless platform that runs across PCs, tablets, smartphones, Xbox games consoles, and more.
Once a PC or mobile device has been upgraded to Windows 10, Microsoft has promised to support the hardware for the duration of its lifetime at no cost.
The computing giant is already inviting users to reserve their copy of Windows 10 via an icon that will automatically appear on their taskbar.
