The film adaptation of DC Comics' Shazam was announced for release in 2019, but star Dwayne Johnson has said that that may no longer be the case.
The Fast & Furious actor is predicting an earlier release for the Warner Bros film.
"No, I don't think it is going to be that far away," he told ComicBook.com. "It's going to be earlier than that. I don't think [as late as] 2019."
Johnson said that he has been preparing for eight years to play the film's villain/anti-hero Black Adam.
It was previously unclear whether he was going to play that character or the titular hero Shazam (sometimes known as Captain Marvel. The non-Marvel Comics Captain Marvel. It's confusing).
Johnson can currently be seen in action/disaster movie San Andreas alongside Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Kylie Minogue and Paul Giamatti.
