Ring of Honor is now forcing some of their top talents to pull out of the upcoming FWE Open Weight Grand Prix iPPV, and from all iPPVs for the foreseeable future. This includes Michael Bennett, Jay Lethal and ROH World TV Champion Matt Taven.

FWE posted the following on their official Facebook page Tuesday afternoon:

"Got some shitty news for everyone. Ring of Honor has decided their talent can no longer appear on our iPPV's. This means that ROH has pulled Mike Bennett, ROH pulled the surprise return of Matt Taven and for the second show in a row ROH has pulled Jay Lethal. Replacements will be named shortly and we apologize for the misunderstanding."

This is not the first time a top independent promotion has forced its contracted employees to remain exclusive to their product, but it has been met with criticism from many within the industry. Although Ring of Honor is currently the third largest wrestling scene in the United States, it is still difficult for many of their talents to make a living wrestling only for the promotion, leading to appearances at events like FWE, an excellent aggregate show out of New York City.

Wouldn't the ROH talent gain exposure for appearing for a iPPV of a different promotion. Therefore, the interest grows in the ROH talent and those viewers will research the talent, ultimately leading to new viewers watching ROH TV.

Fucking egocentric bookers.

ROH thinks they are bigger than they actually are. TNA even allows their guys to wrestle other places.

Yeah actually no, they dont. Sometime last year it was reported that TNA wasnt allowing any of its talent to appear on any tv shows, iPPVs or DVD tapings for any other promotions. The only companies TNA talent can appear for are AAA and NJPW because they have talent exchanges with both promotions and even then, its rare.

If Bennett, Taven and Lethal are under legit written ROH contracts, then ROH can pull them from whatever show they wish, its called protecting their talent. What happens to the ROH Television Title if Matt Taven gets injured at a show that isnt sanctioned by Ring of Honor? What happens if Mike Bennett is in line for the ROH Title but then is injured during a 5 Dollar Wrestling match?

The fact of the matter is, ROH is an indy company pure and simple. Every indy company that hires wrestlers gives them some sort of contract. Unless there is something specifically in ROH's contracts that states that these guys can not wrestle at these shows then ROH can't do anything. If said rules were written into the contracts then you can believe that ROH would have lost most of it's wrestlers. Contracts are created for a reason, you can't add rules that were not outlined in a contract after the fact and the wrestlers need to understand that.

lol I like how people get pissed off because guys end up agreeing to ROH's contracts ROFL!

If FWE really wanted to use them they just wouldn't show them on IPPV like Extreme Raising did with The Briscoe Brothers.
