Tekken game director Katsuhiro Harada has responded to fan outrage regarding new Tekken 7 character, Lucky Chloe.
Speaking via Twitter, Harada was told that Western fans were "not happy" with the Lucky Chloe character model, before being linked to a post on NeoGAF.
"By the way, are you 'Western' only one bulletin board?" says Harada. "Hello small world. I'll make muscular & skinhead character for you. Remember, I said we've more new characters and She is ONE on THEM." [sic]
In the NeoGAF post, users labelled Lucky Chloe a "furry Vocaloid idol," and said "Christ please don't be an idol. If it is, I will use dark magic to attack Harada."
Fielding another question, this time asking for an option to 'delete' certain characters – namely Lucky Chloe – from the active roster, Harada said that Lucky Chloe is exclusive for East Asia and Europe.
"Calm down and don't worry. That character [is] East Asia and Europe 'Exclusive.' And I'll say again, we've more new characters in [Tekken 7]. She is JUST one of them, and she will be country exclusive (or region exclusive). We [won't] include her for your region. That's why I said 'calm down and don't worry.'"
When asked by another user why North America won't be seeing a release of Lucky Chloe, Harada reiterated his stance, then explained he'll release a different character specifically designed with the NA territory in mind.
"Because you don't need that character right? It's simple thing. And I'll say 'Don't worry' again. I'll release another character for you guys. I said we've more new characters. Example: Looks well-muscled, Skin-head, Very powerful attack (I don't like this idea but if you need)."
In another response, also talking about the prospect of a US-specific character, Harada says "They want just Muscle & Skinhead (with Gun or MMA style) character (Of course I knew it)."
In other Tekken news, along with Lucky Chloe, the latest iteration includes other new fights such as Katarina, and a male character by the name of Claudio.
Tekken 7 is due to hit Japanese arcades in February of 2015.
