At PAX, we had the opportunity to check out the upcoming Roller Coaster Tycoon World. That game pushes the boundaries of the franchise, allowing people to build theme parks together to delight their peeps. When Screamride was announced at Gamescom we wondered how a newcomer would bring something new to genre?

In a new video, we learn a bit more about what sets Screamride apart from other roller coaster simulators. While Frontier Developments (Elite: Dangerous, Zoo Tycoon, Thrillville) has included some of the core concepts (coaster building and testing), Screamride takes the genre in a different direction.

Here, safety (or rather, lack thereof) is a weapon you can use against your unsuspecting riders. Toss them off with your stomach-turning loops and you’ll earn additional scream points.

You can even use your contraptions to send cars flying off the tracks into buildings (and then watch those structures collapse). The video above makes us wonder if Frontier Developments played Angry Birds and decided to give it a macabre twist.

Screamride is coming in early 2015. You’ll be able to build, break, and share your creations on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
