Starbreeze, the studio behind hits such as The Chronicles of Riddick, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and Payday 2, has announced that it is working with developer Overkill to bring a new story into The Walking Dead's universe.

It isn't difficult to gleam the tone that Overkill is going for with its interpretation of The Walking Dead's universe: dark, gritty, and incredibly unforgiving, just as the comics, TV show, and other video game interpretations transmit. The trailer also gives a shout-out to a new item coming free to Payday 2 based on the upcoming game.

Apart from the focus on co-op gameplay, not much else is known about the title other than that it is set to release in 2016. No news regarding which systems it is coming to yet.

The Walking Dead series already has a footing in the gaming space with both weak and strong titles. If you haven't heard yet, it might be good news to hear that Telltale's excellent series is confirmed for a third season.
