Tekken 7 has been officially announced by Bandai Namco.
Series producer Katsuhiro Harada was forced to reveal the game's existence at Evo 2014 after it was leaked online.
A teaser trailer was shown at the event, which shows a woman in a temple talking to Kazuya about destroying Heihachi.
"Since it is leaked, I have no choice but to announce that certain title," Harada explained, adding that there are two more unannounced games in development.
Harada also stated that Tekken 7 will be available on next-gen consoles and is being built with Unreal Engine 4.
"The power and flexibility means that we can focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without worrying about spending time creating a stand-alone graphic engine," he continued.
"With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire."
The teaser does not show any gameplay but promises more details will be shared at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 25.
Tekken 6 was the last in the series to be released in 2009 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PSP.
Bandai Namco also made Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in 2012 for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U, and announced Tekken X Street Fighter in 2010, which is supposedly still in development.
