Professional wrestler and promoter Dutch Savage (real name: Frank Stewart) was confirmed dead this Friday by his daughter, Mitzi Graham. He was seventy-eight years old.

Savage wrestled across America and Japan throughout the '60s before settling in the Pacific Northwest, where he made a name for himself in Washington-based promotion, Pacific Northwest Wrestling and in NWA All-Star Wrestling out of Vancouver. He was a 13-time NWA Canadian tag team champion, partnering with the likes of Stan Stasiak, Gene Kiniski and others.

Following his in-ring retirement in 1981, Dutch Savage controlled a third of PNW and stayed on, working as a promoter. He has been in care since April of this year, when he suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed, along with other unlisted complications.
