It was just a couple of days ago that Sony revealed that over 100 games are still coming to PS4 in 2014. A vast majority of those games are indie titles that are being self-published by small studios and teams from around the world.

Indeed, over 1,000 developers are licensed to self-publish on PlayStation 4, according to Sony. That's a staggering number of developers ready, eager, and willing to bring their content to the PS4, a console that's selling at historic rates and is still difficult to find.

Following the release of Infamous: Second Son -- a game we very much enjoyed -- PlayStation 4's list of exclusive triple-A releases for the rest of the year is looking bleak, with only Driveclub and The Order: 1886 slated for release this year (MLB 14: The Show is also coming, though it's also available on PS3 and Vita). Some of the holes in the lineup are going to be filled by major third parties -- think Destiny, Assassin's Creed Unity, and Batman: Arkham Knight -- but indies are going to be carrying the heaviest weight moving forward in terms of sheer volume.

It's great to know that Sony understands the gaming landscape and where it's going so well that they've cozied-up to the indie community early and often.
