Thoughts on John Cena: "I don't think he's a Rock, I don't think he is a Sting, I don't think he is a Goldberg, I don't think he is a Stone Cold. But I think he's bigger than a Buff Bagwell. I really do. Now mainly because of the way they've pushed him I give him credit than being bigger than me. When you lay out the facts, no he's not as big as The Rock, no he's not as big as Stone Cold, no he's not as big as these other guys I'm talking about. Then again, you give me the same push I think I would be just as big as John Cena. He's not that cornerstone guy. He's not that super mega superstar that The Rock has become. He's not that super mega superstar Stone Cold had become. He's just WWE's number one guy and with a little bit of help, a lot of guys could be that guy. He's just got the look, he's got the ability, and he was at the right place at the right time to be their poster child."

Thoughts on CM Punk: "He's too small. That's why they kept him and The Rock as far apart as they could until they had to wrestle because when you really stand Rock against CM Punk in the ring. They just don't look like it fits. You've got a 260-pound guy in The Rock down to a buck 80-85 CM Punk. Nothing against being a buck 85 but you know TNA's got a division called the X Division for guys like that. I think that's a good thing to have, but as far as being the World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk should not be. He's not big enough, he don't look the part. He's heard, I bet if you ask him and he told the truth, he's heard a million times wow you're not as big as I thought you were. That's not good for Pro Wrestling. You've gotta be big you know? to make it believable, to make it more realistic. I don't think he's that. He just doesn't carry that kind of power."

Does Buff think anything can save TNA?: "No, I don't think there is. That's why I'm not mad they didn't hire me. Hiring Buff Bagwell isn't going to save TNA. Hiring The Rock isn't going to save TNA. So why put out a couple more hundred grand a year when it's not going to save the company. I understand their position but I still don't understand keeping the show on television. Either shut it down or do hire a Buff Bagwell that may switch the channels a little more, may make something happen. It may make somebody want to come over. Then you got The Rock and Buff Bagwell, maybe a Goldberg on TNA. Now you've got some heavy players. You just can't have match after match people going who's this guy here? what's that guys name? You gotta have name value and they don't. They (TNA) were at the Gwinett Center here about 6 months ago, and I just drove up there and walked in. They just ate me up and oh god you look great, looks like you haven't aged a bit, you know all this stuff. Me and Eric did text back and forth and all of sudden guys started getting fired, it was the same ol story, TNA's going under and it was over again. I just can't imagine being in the wrestling business you've got Buff Bagwell living in Atlanta, you're running a Gwinett show, which is 20 minutes from my house. Why would you not have Buff Bagwell come in and get beat? Put me on TV, beat me, but why not put me on TV? People know me better than they know other guy they're beating. So why not get a better rating and beat me. I'm not asking to win, I'm asking to be part of the show and help them build a product."

At least Punk looks believable. Bryan's the one that might struggle with that if anything.

Also, Cena isn't as big as The Rock... yet. He's as big as The Rock was when The Rock was in wrestling though. Cena's gonna be wrestling for another 5-10 years give or take, he's in around the middle of his career, and he's as big as Rock was in the middle of his career.

Buff Bagwell: "To succeed you have to be big and shit" -> never had any major singles titles; won "Most Embarrasing Wrestler" in 2001.

I think he forgot about guys like Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart. Just like CM Punk, they weren't big, yet they had success where other "big guys" (like B.B.) have never smelled gold .-.

Bret Hart was pretty big.

Shawn wasn't but he played his role correctly.

CM Punk does the same thing.

Bryan really doesn't. But he's fine anyway.


Also, Bagwell sucks.

Buff Bagwell seems to be under the mistaken impression that people give a shit about him.

Not going to go around saying Buff Bagwell sucked and I never liked him. Because I did like Buff, he was one of my favs for WCW. But he is just talking out his fucking ass here. Maybe he is pissed because Punk and D-Bryan are in the spots he always wanted to be. No one came to WCW shows to see Buff Bagwell. He was upper mid carder at best, which is okay and some people will only be that. But he needs to stop being so bitchy.

I don't like that he insulted Punk or Cena, but I never liked him to begin with. It's his opinion, as dumb as it is.

No, it's dumb because he's not nearly as big as he thinks he is and he makes no sense when he says CM Punk isn't believable.

Buff is clearly in his own World, though

I gotta say, he's pretty right on John Cena. The more I think about it he's really spot on in that entire paragraph. I love how he brought himself into that with a bunch of top-name guys in wrestling, though.


I don't think many guys with above average talent could have failed given the kind of push Cena had back then. You'd have to have no charisma to get no reactions when pushed like that.

It was actually genius by WWE though to push a mega-star catered to kids and still never backed down with the push no matter how bad the mixed reactions got. It really made him even bigger and bigger, a heel turn or any less of a push at any point of his Super Cena run would have been retarded. I truly think there's more props that need to be given to WWE.

Cena's got some talent in-ring, and some may like his mic skills too (meeeh   ) but Buff is right that he's still also a product of being at the right place at the right time and WWE giving him a historic push with his look and hard work playing a huge factor into that. Those other guys mentioned by Buff blew you away in segments basically week after week and obtained the credibility of being the top guy without being forced into countless wins in matches. Cena, IMO, was forced into being the next big thing, even when reactions started going south. And really it is one of WWE's best accomplishments/decisions but Cena isn't special like the rest of these guys to me. He's very good, worked hard, and got rewarded but there's been a decent amount of others that do the same & have done the same, could have been rewarded in the same way, and could have Cena's status right now, if not even bigger.

He's Buff! He's on the stuff! And he should share whatever it is because it's clearly put him in his own little world...
