An eerie silence fills the arena as section by section, the lights in the arena shut off. Clunk. The main lights turn off. Clunk. The ribbon lights turn off. Clunk. The jumbotron turns off. Clunk. The arena is now entirely dark, and fans begin to cheer in anticipation. When all of a sudden, all the lights in the arena flick on at once and a distinctive yell is heard as his theme music begins to play.

“CAAANNNAAADDDAAA!!!!!!!”



The crowd immediately erupts into a deafening cheer as this song marks the return of a beloved former star, a tag team champion, and an idol to many. Mr. Canada emerges through the curtain with his arms up in the air. Adorned in an eccentric red and suit, Mr. Canada walks onto the stage. He surveys the entire crowd, seeming to just soak this moment in. Fans scattered throughout the arena hold up big signs with Mr. Canada’s name written on them. It’s just about impossible to keep anything a secret to the internet wrestling community now-a-days, isn’t it?

Mr. Canada makes his way down the runway and climbs up the steel steps. He stops for a moment and looks back to the crowd to allow another roar of cheers to surface before stepping in between the ropes. His silence is his friend at this moment, as suspense seems to be making the crowd cheer louder. Mr. Canada makes his way to the center of the ring and stands there, feet shoulder width apart, waiting for the right moment. He looks up towards the rafters, and another cheer erupts as the audience knows what is coming. He looks back down and smirks into the camera. He takes another look up and another look down. The noise level is unlike anything in recent memory. He looks up one last time, this time slowly and then…

A spotlight focuses on the center of the ring as the surrounding lights dim until the spotlight is the only light remaining in the building. Mr. Canada jolts his right hand into the air and an old-school microphone slowly lowers into his hand. He grasps it and brings it to his mouth.



“Ladies and Gentlemen!” He yells, holding his left arm out in front of him: His signature pose. “I would like to remind you, that the gentleman in this ring tonight weighs in at two-hundred and forty-six pounds!” He looks towards the crowd again with a sly smile, as they cheer for his old-school gimmick. “He hails from Edmonton, Alberta, Canadaaaaaaaa!” The crowd has begun to recite his words with him, remembering the numerous entrances he has done before. “MIIIIIIISSSSSTTTTTEEEEEERRRRRRRR CAAAAAANNNNAAAADDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”

Mr. Canada looks up into the air and closes his eyes, enjoying the nostalgia of this moment as the crowd goes crazy. He lowers his head back down as states back into the camera. He raises the microphone back to his mouth and opens it, only to close it again right away. Some members of the audience laugh as they realize that he’s teasing them with some more suspense.

He walks towards the turnbuckle and climbs onto it. He stands on the second turnbuckle and smiles one last time before raising the microphone to his mouth again. “CAAAAAANNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAA!!!!”

He jumps off of the turnbuckle and laughs; he hasn’t seen a reaction like this in a long time, and especially not for him. “So I’m sure a lot of you are wondering why I’m back here” He starts. A few members of the crowd shout “What?” “Hey, don’t start that ‘what?’ bullshit with me.” Mr. Canada retorts, drawing the applause of most of the audience. “Like I said, I’m sure many of you are wondering what I’m doing back in the XWA. I’m sorry to say, but I won’t be in any matches here anytime soon, but I did get signed on to help train some of the new athletes coming in. I’m very honoured to be given that opportunity.”

The crowd started chants of “You’ve still got it!” You’ve still got it!” Mr. Canada just couldn’t help but smile. This crowd was amazing tonight. “You’ve got that damn right Indianapolis!” He yelled, getting the epic cheap pop he was hoping for. “Just because I didn’t come here to fight doesn’t mean that I’m not going to kick some ass while I’m here. If someone gets in my way, there isn’t anything that will stop me from mopping the floor with that sorry motherfucker and all of you know it! You guys know what it’s like to defend your home turf. Your Colts don’t lose at home. Even when Peyton Manning came back this year with his Broncos team, heart prevailed and the Colts kicked their asses to the curb. That’s what I’m about. I may not be the biggest, but I do have the most heart, just like your Colts. And just like the Colts, I’m all about developing the young guys into superstars. That’s what Indianapolis did for Andrew Luck, and that’s what I’ll do for any young wrestler that needs it here in the XWA. So this is my official announcement. I have been brought back as a trainer, but if there is any young, up and coming wrestler in that locker room that would like me as a mentor, a manager, or a mouthpiece, because we all know I can talk, I am here, just let me know. As for you Indianapolis, I am so excited that this was the city I was able to return at. You guys have been great, thank you for everything. You fans are the reason that I wrestled for so many years, the reason that I came back, and the reason that I’m still here today. You are the passion that builds this company to what it is, and I thank you for that, I love you all.”

With that, Mr. Canada threw the microphone back up into the air, and it was drawn back up into the rafters. He slid out of the ring and shook hands with fans in the front row on the way to the back. This was the return of a legend, a cheap pop, a loud crowd, and possibly the start of something new. Would any of XWA’s young wrestlers reach out to Mr. Canada and accept him as a manager? Only time will tell.
