| Super Mario 64 Nintendo 64 1996 Something The Wii and Wii U were missing were strong launch titles that showed you why you should own those consoles. The NES had Super Mario Bros. The SNES had Super Mario World. The GameCube had Super Mario Sunshine. The Nintendo 64 had Super Mario 64. This game takes platform games into 3D gaming and does it wonderfully. No longer were we stuck to a 2D world but were given a 3D one we were free to explore. The Mario formula is altered. Instead of non stop jumping action you instead have to solve puzzles and collect items. The levels are very different from each other. My favorites are the sky levels where to move around with your flying hat and shooting yourself out a cannon. You also get Mario's usual haunted house, sand level, mushroom world and water levels. You also get levels with slides, lava and ice worlds. Like previous Mario games you get different power ups that make you made of metal or make it so you can fly. Unlike the Mario games from before though these are timed so you have to act quickly before you loose your powers. You could also mess around. It's fun to explore to world and unlike most games it's actually humorous when you die. Even when you start up the game when you load your save you're allowed to play with Mario's face. There's a lot to this game and is very re-playable. This was a defining title for The Nintendo 64. Super Mario 64 gets a 10/10. New Super Mario Bros U was one of the Wii U launch titles and that's an amazing game. |

| It came out November 18th, 2012, the same day as the Wii U. |

| But to be honest I don't think anyone will rush to buy a console for a 2D platform game. Even if it's Mario.

| If theres enough hype behind it, they will. Just because a game isnt 3D doesnt mean there isnt interest. |
