Greg Samuel vs. Caleb Spires GregSamuelCalebSpires_zps7b02f517

Two XWA veterans find themselves back in the Vendetta spotlight after returning to the company that defined these two men’s existence. Some would consider Greg Samuel vs. Caleb Spires a Pay Per View quality main event being given to the XWA Universe fans free on Vendetta. Spires, former 5x World Champion and a long history of being loved by the fans, knows what it’s like to be in that spotlight with the World Championship around his waist. He has held that title more times than anyone in the company. He is on a quest to make himself the 6x World Champion. Samuel, has found success in the mid card level and come so close to the World Championship on different occasions. This time, he vows to keep on the path to the World Championship, and capture his fist World title. The crowd adores both men, so it’s to be seen how the Virginia crowd reacts to these two men facing off. Spires is unlikely to go down without a fight, as he has proven time and time again in his career. Samuel is very likely to provide that fight to him. To quote a pay per view hype from many moons ago, Greg Samuel has made a career out of putting on great battles. The quote however also goes on to say how he’s fallen short time and time again. Tonight, he looks to break that “Greg Samuel curse.” The experience edge in main events has to go to Spires, as almost every experience advantage would. Samuel on the other hand has a height and weight advantage for a second match in a row. It’s showman vs. showman in a match that looks to tear the roof off of the Richmond Coliseum.

TED CEDAR: Ladies and Gentlemen it’s main event time here on Vendetta 56. Two XWA greats, Greg Samuel and Caleb Spires face off!

ADAM DENNIS: More like one great and a guy who should be shining his shoes. Samuel has had opportunity after opportunity at the World Championship yet has come up short time after time. He’s proven that he doesn’t deserve the shot and he isn’t a quality World Champion.

TED CEDAR: I’ve chosen to ignore your ignorance because it does no good.

In the ring, Spires takes off his black and gold coat and hangs it on the ring post. Spires is getting a huge round of ovation from the Richmond crowd. He soaks it in as Samuel on the other side of the ring looks focused, ready to go. Greg is in his usual blue, white and black trunk with matching kickpads. The ref checks both men for illegal objects and then signals to the timekeeper for the bell. Once the bell has been rung, Samuel immediately makes his way to the center of the ring. Spires matches his movements. Samuel looks Caleb square in the eyes and then offers a handshake. Spires briefly looks down at Greg’s hand, and then shakes his hand. The capacity crowd in the Richmond Coliseum claps at the show of respect between the two veterans. The two men then begin circling the ring, testing the waters, seeing how they want to begin the match. For Greg, circling the ring with Caleb is a dream. For Caleb, it’s time for another main event. “The Maine Attraction” offers a test of strength, and Spires accepts, seemingly. Knowing that size is not in his favor, “The Elite One” drives a boot to the midsection of his opposition. Samuel curls over as the tip of Spires’ boot connects with his abdominal muscles. The 5-time World Champion darts into the ropes behind him, to come shooting back at the doubled over Samuel. Greg leapfrogs his opponent, showing his agility. Spires heads back into the ropes. Instinctively, Samuel drops down to his stomach, allowing Caleb to hop over. Once more Caleb finds his way into the ropes and back at Samuel. Greg takes the chance and charges at Caleb, leveling him with a hard clothesline. Despite a hard hit on the mat and a brief shockwave of pain up his spine, Caleb is quickly back to a vertical base, only to be sent right back down with the same clothesline. A little slower, “The Orgasmic Legend” is back to a vertical base fighting off a second, more intense pain up his spine, and charges right back at Samuel. The former Intercontinental Champion attempts to lift Caleb up and over with a back body drop. The savvy Caleb is quick enough to land on his feet. Before Samuel can even realize Caleb is on his feet, the multi-time World Champion takes Greg in the Dragon Sleeper clutch and then drops Samuel neck first on his knee. “The King of the Gannosuke Clutch” cringes as he grabs his neck; which was worked on quite a bit at Revolutionary Wars, but is still racing back to a vertical base. As Greg charges at Caleb, the 5-time World Champion takes the fight right to him and thrusts an elbow into the chin of Samuel. Greg stumbles back into the ropes with his head jacked back. Spires stays on the attack; taking the stiff jawed Samuel by the forearm and irish whips him across the ring. Samuel rebounds off the ropes and charges at Caleb. Spires lands a nice spinning back heel on the opposition. Samuel is doubled over, and at this point, Caleb raises an arm and drives the tip of his elbow into the top of Samuel’s spine. Greg drops down to a knee, as he arches his back and cringes in pain as his spine tingles. Once more, Caleb charges to the ropes. This time, he connects to the temple of Samuel with a knee. Greg does a full 360-degree turn before falling face first on the mat. “The Maine Attraction” immediately grabs his head with both hands while kicking the mat in pain. An instant headache flows into Samuel’s cranium after taking a knee to the temple. The crowd is eating up this action between two of their beloved wrestlers.

TED CEDAR: Right from the get-go, both of these men are pressing the fight, and neither man wants to fall back.

ADAM DENNIS: But more importantly, with any luck, Greg won’t be able to go on after that brutal knee.

Caleb rolls Samuel over and hooks the far leg. Spires is only able to get a two count as there is plenty of fight left in Samuel. “The Elite One” gets back to a vertical base and then approaches the turnbuckles, and is quick to get to the top rope. Greg staggers a touch getting back to his feet, as he is still disoriented from the knee strike. Once Samuel gets his wits about him, he realizes Caleb is on the top rope. Caleb leaps out, looking to connect his two boots the face with a missile dropkick, but Samuel has the whereabouts to dodge the attack. Caleb’s spine connects hard with the mat after missing the aerial attack. Caleb clutches his back as he pushes back to a vertical base. “Beast Mode” is waiting for his adversary to get back up, primed and ready to attack. Once Caleb reaches his feet, Greg charges at him and lands an elbow strike to the forehead. Caleb stumbles into the ropes, before bouncing right back to his opponent. Again, Samuel drives the point of his elbow to the forehead of the XWA legend. Caleb staggers, but stays vertical. Greg delivers a third elbow with precision, landing all three on the same mark. As Caleb struggles to stay upright, Greg lets out a warrior like yell and sticks his arms out, with his hands in fists. The former Intercontinental Champion rolls his arms in a circular motion, one over another, paying homage to Dusty Rhodes, then drives one more elbow into the forehead, this one with a little extra power. Caleb falls to the mat, clutching his head after taking four successive elbows to the forehead. As Caleb lies on the mat checking for splits on his forehead, Greg speeds towards the ropes, and then uses them to shoot even faster back at Caleb. “The Maine Attraction” bolts back at Caleb and then leaps, doing a flip in mid air, and landing on his opposition. Spires’ limbs shoot up in the air after all of Samuel’s 225 pounds lands down on him, flattening him like a cube steak. Samuel tries to pin Caleb with the cradle, but is unsuccessful with a near 2 count. Greg gets back to his feet, not surprised that the Hall of Famer isn’t giving up that easy, and Caleb is not too far behind. Greg looks to raise a knee into the midsection of Caleb, but is blocked as Spires takes a step back and places his hands where his stomach would have been. Caleb then pulls Greg in, as if hugging a long lost relative, and takes him over with a Belly to Belly Suplex. The former Intercontinental Champion is reintroduced to the mat, after having his neck and back slammed down on it. Before he can even react to the pain coursing through his spine, Samuel finds himself being pinned as Caleb bridges from the suplex to the pin. “The Elite One” finds himself a single slap on the mat short of picking up three more points toward becoming a six-time World Champion as Samuel is able to will a shoulder off the mat. Caleb lifts his opponent’s back off the mat, assisting him into a sitting position and then transitions into a headlock. The ref checks to make sure that there isn’t a choke. Caleb steps up from being on one knee to being on both feet and then launches himself in the air, as high as he can go while using Samuel as a way to balance himself out. After a split second of just hanging in the air, the 5-time World Champion flops back down, driving a knee into Samuel’s back with all his momentum. The impact from this move is again directed at the spine, and Samuel arches his back and falls to his side in pain as Spires releases the hold. Samuel kicks around on the mat as his spine has taken a brunt of the load throughout the early stages of this match. Caleb pulls Greg down to his back and then hooks the outside leg, looking to get the victory. He comes up short with only a two count.

TED CEDAR: Samuel is persevering, but I don’t know how much longer he can before he has to give. The spine is a very touchy thing.

ADAM DENNIS: Hopefully Spires takes Samuel out so he can’t continue in the tournament.

After an unsuccessful pin, Caleb takes the former Intercontinental Champion by the head and aids him back to a vertical base. Once he has reached his feet, Samuel maneuvers his arms inside of Caleb’s and is able to break the hold, and take control of the former World Heavyweight Champion’s head. Samuel takes Caleb over with a swift snapmare. Spires is sitting on the mat, slightly dazed by the counter as Samuel charges into the ropes. The slight fatigue doesn’t show as Samuel rushes back toward Spires. In one clean motion, Samuel lifts up his size 11 boot and drives it straight into Caleb’s face. “The Elite One’s” head snaps back, followed by the rest of his upper body, as his face immediately begins to throb. Caleb sinks his head into his arms and kicks around. Samuel, looking to stay on the advantage, takes Caleb by the head and drags him over to the ropes. Greg props Caleb up on the middle rope, facing out toward the crowd in the Richmond Coliseum. Greg then grabs a hold of the top rope and pulls back before springing himself forward and out of the ring. Greg lands on his feet on the outside of the ring, facing the ring and rears back before landing a slap on Caleb. “The Orgasmic Legend” tumbles back off the ropes into the middle of the ring after a forceful slap that could be heard in the nosebleeds does more to punish his already weakened face. After the slap, Greg turns to the crowd and throws his arms in the air, as if seeing a friend he hasn’t seen in a long time. “AYYY!” Greg Samuel turns Fonzy for a brief second as he acknowledges the fans in the front rows. The fans respond with joyfulness as he approaches them and begins slapping five with everyone in arms reach. Samuel then turns his attention back to the opposition in the ring. “The Maine Attraction” notices that Caleb is starting to stir again, making an attempt to get back to his feet after two blows to the face. Greg hops up on the ring apron and begins to wait for Caleb to arrive at his feet. Spires makes it up to a vertical base, back facing Samuel, and Greg is setting up to jump. Right before “The Elite One” turns around, Greg springboards into the ring. Before Caleb even realizes what has hit him, Samuel has an arm around his neck in a front face lock style. Greg spins 180 degrees with his arm around Spires’ neck and then spikes Caleb’s head into the mat with a Springboard Tornado DDT. Upon impact, Caleb rolls forward, ending up on his back, clutching his now more intensely throbbing head. Greg lies on the mat, facing the opposite direction of Caleb. After a second, Samuel rears his legs back and then shoots forward, landing on his feet with a heart-breaker style kip-up. Greg bows as the crowd cheers him on for his showmanship. Greg turns his attention back to Caleb, taking a few paces over and bending down, looking to pull him back to his feet. Before Greg can get a grasp on the veteran, “The Elite One” counters, pulling the former Intercontinental Champion over and catching him in a pin. Caleb looks to pull out the element of surprise to capture three points, but Samuel is able to kickout at two and a half. Both men quickly stagger back to their feet, Samuel with wide eyes as he almost just had one pulled over on him. Greg looks across the ring at Caleb, who smirks at him, knowing he almost pulled out the victory. Both men are breathing a little deeper than normal. Greg holds up a finger and begins to wave it back and forth while doing an almost spot on Dikembe Mutumbo impression. “Oh, no, no. Not in my house!” The crowd in Richmond chuckle at Samuel before applauding the two warriors. Caleb somehow manages to hold back the laughter.

ADAM DENNIS: See, this is why this guy shouldn’t be the World Champion. He almost gets pinned after showboating for the crowd, and then he goes right back to doing it!

TED CEDAR: You applaud every other man that showboats, why not Greg?

ADAM DENNIS: Because… that’s why.

It’s at this standoff point where out on the stage comes XWA Chief Operating Officer Smoke Xtreme with a microphone. Caleb sees Smoke and his attention immediately turns, as he slowly paces towards the ropes, glaring at the COO the whole time. Greg respects the 5-time World Champion and isn’t going to cheat and get the cheap win as he backs off to the other side of the ring, watching this confrontation go down. Smoke makes his way down the ramp. “Caleb, you’re past your prime. You think you can disrespect me, enter MY World Championship tournament and then get away with it? Guess again.” “The Elite One’s” eyes continue to fill with rage as Smoke taunts him. Greg on the other hand is using this time to rest. “YOU EARN RESPECT! YOU DON’T JUST GET RESPECT BY FINDING YOURSELF IN A ROLE OF POWER!” The ref tugs at Caleb’s shoulder, trying to get him back to the main event at hand. Out of instinct, Caleb throws his arms around, looking to land a punch, thinking it’s his opponent trying to take a shortcut. The ref falls to his back after taking a punch to the noggin. He is out cold, and as Caleb looks at what he just did, Smoke Xtreme grabs him by the legs, tripping him. Caleb’s face slams on the mat as he’s getting pulled out of the ring. Caleb lands on his feet, holding his head. Little does anyone know, Smoke has a pair of brass knuckles on his hand. As Spires regains his wits, Smoke drives his right hand through the jaw of the 5-time World Champion. The crowd explodes with disdain for the COO as Caleb lies out cold on the black padding. “Here you go Greg! Three points for you!” Greg glares at the cocky COO. “Not like this Smoke… NOT LIKE THIS!” Greg slides out of the ring and checks on Caleb. Smoke watches on in astonishment. “You don’t want to be the World Champion, kid?” Greg ignores Smoke’s remarks. “The Maine Attraction” is able to sit Caleb on the ring apron, allowing him to regain his wits about him. Smoke grabs Samuel’s shoulder much like the ref did to Caleb. “Beast Mode” turns and faces the boss, with an angry look on his face. Before Smoke can get two words off, Greg takes him in the STO clutch and lifts him ever so slightly off the floor and then drops him on his face, hitting him with a Fatal Attraction. Greg gets up and looks down at the boss; who isn’t moving an inch, with a very angry look on his face. “NO ONE INTERFERS IN MY MATCH WITH A LEGEND! I’M BEATING CALEB ON MY TERMS!” The crowd in the Richmond Colisiuem cheers Samuel’s respect toward the XWA Hall of Famer.

TED CEDAR: If nothing else, Greg Samuel is a man to be respected after that!

ADAM DENNIS: No, he’s dumb… He had a chance to grab 3 points and a victory over a legend, and he just let that pass him by.

TED CEDAR: He can do no right, can he?

ADAM DENNIS: Nope…

Caleb has recovered from the punch and sneakily made it to his feet on the ring apron. The ref has recovered and is beginning a count on the two men. Greg finishes snarling down at the COO and then turns around only to see Caleb jumping toward him. Spires brings his legs back into his body as close as he can and then shoots them forward with all his strength, landing a missile dropkick on his adversary. Samuel falls hard to his back on the one spot where the ringside isn’t covered by the black padding, the bottom of the ramp. Greg arches his back after colliding with the concrete, and his rubs his face, making sure that all his facial features are still in place on his throbbing face. Caleb takes a second to nurse his back after a collision with the thin black padding on top of concrete. Spires’ works back to his feet after a momentary check of his spine. The ref’s count is at three as Caleb arrives back to his feet after the dropkick. To add insult to injury, Caleb spits on the back of Smoke’s head, who is barely moving after the huge Fatal Attraction. “The Elite One” then goes over and grabs Samuel by the back of the head and pulls him back to his feet. Caleb then guides the former Million Dollar Champion back to the ring and then slides him into the ring. Caleb slides back into the ring himself, stopping the ref’s count at six. Caleb immediately hooks the outside leg, looking for the three points that Smoke just tried to cost him. At 2 and some change, Samuel is able to get a shoulder off the mat. Disappointed he can’t get the three count, Caleb pushes his way back to a vertical base. Greg lies on the mat, trying to recover from what his spine has taken in this match. Caleb backs into a corner, waiting for his opponent to get back to his feet. The multi-time Tag Team Champion looks around at the Richmond Coliseum and runs his hand across his neck. “LIGHTS OUT!” The crowd cheers as Caleb yells out Samuel’s potential fate, referring to the Superkick that has won him many World Championships. Greg pushes his way back to his feet taking his time to make sure the back isn’t going to give out on him as he looks to fight back into this match up. Upon arrival at his feet, “The Maine Attraction” finds a foot darting toward his face. Samuel is able to dodge the Lights Out Superkick from Caleb. “The Orgasmic Legend” finds himself facing away from his opposition. Greg turns Spires around and takes him into the same STO clutch that we saw Smoke in only minutes ago. Greg lifts the former World Champion a couple of inches off the ground, looking to hit Fatal Attraction, but Caleb pushes away from Samuel, escaping a near certain doom. The shorter Spires charges toward his adversary, looking to gain the upper hand, only to be picked up again, rotated 180 degrees and slammed on his back with a spinebuster. Greg hops back to his feet as quickly as his battered spine will allow. Spires kicks his feet and lifts his back off the mat, looking to find anyway to lessen the pain that is shooting up and down his spine. Samuel makes his way around to Caleb’s legs as the former World Champion looks for anything that will take away his pain. Doing anything to solidify the win, Greg grabs Spires’ legs and drags him into the center of the ring. “Beast Mode” then looks to turn Caleb over and lock him in a Boston Crab, but the XWA Hall of Famer is too experienced to let it happen, fighting him as much as he can. Greg is doing everything he can to get Caleb turned over, but is having little success. After struggling to get “The Elite One” turned over, Greg switches directions, looking to flip “The Orgasmic Legend” over on the other side. Using Caleb’s fight to his advantage, “The Maine Attraction” is successful at locking in the Boston Crab. In the center of the ring, with Samuel pulling as far back on his legs as the human spine will allow, Caleb is forced to let out a yelp of pain as he tries to find a way to escape this hold.

TED CEDAR: BOSTON CRAB IN THE CENTER OF THE RING! CALEB HAS NOWHERE TO GO!

ADAM DENNIS: Fight it off Caleb! Don’t tap!

The crowd is buzzing with anticipation, waiting on the verge of their seats to see if Caleb will tap. The crowd is split down the middle and a battling chant of “Let’s go Caleb!” and “Samuel!” breaks out in the arena. Caleb’s arms are flailing around, trying to find a way out of this painful Crab. Samuel is leaning back as much as he can, trying to force the veteran to tap out. The ref is in a perfect position to call the tap out as Caleb slowly inches his way to the ropes, but he isn’t sure if he’s going to get to the ropes before the pain that shoots through his legs and spine proves to be too much. The pain Caleb is in is evident on his face, as he gets his body contorted in ways it’s shouldn’t go. Escaping any Boston Crab is hard, but for “The Elite One,” he now has to fight out of a Boston Crap with a 30-pound weight disadvantage. The 5-time World Champion continues to crawl to the ropes, as everything second seems like a minute, hoping he can make it before the pain becomes unbearable. It is absolutely chaotic in the arena, as everyone is buzzing, either cheering for Caleb to tap or for him to escape. Once he’s gotten about an arm’s length away from the ropes, Caleb seemingly stalls out, and sets his head down on the mat. Seemingly, “The Elite One” has run out of fight. The ref checks on Caleb, and doesn’t get much of a response. The ref grabs Caleb’s left hand and holds it up, testing if he is still capable of carrying on. Spires’ hand drops down to the mat, like a brick falling from space. The ref again grabs the hand, and holds it up. This time when the ref releases Caleb’s hand, Caleb is able to keep it up, showing signs of life. The Spires fans in the arena are going berserk as even they thought he was out of this fight. Caleb then uses that hand to start pounding on the mat. The crowd starts clapping along with the former World Champion, trying to will him back into the match. “The Elite One” digs down deep inside and manages to find a blast of energy and is able to claw his way to the bottom rope. The roof comes off the arena as Caleb reaches the ropes.

TED CEDAR: DON’T ASK ME HOW, BUT CALEB SPIRES MANAGED TO REACH THE ROPES!

ADAM DENNIS: Now Caleb… Kill Samuel!

Before the ref can even tell him to, Greg releases the hold out of respect to the legend. Samuel backs off the former World Champion, who is still writhing in pain after the Boston Crab tormented his spine and legs for so long. After a couple of seconds of waiting, Greg decides to get back on the attack, not wanting to let his momentum go too much. Just in the way “The Maine Attraction” approaches his opponent, it’s obvious that he is feeling the effects of this match. Greg is clutching his back as he reaches Caleb, and before he can get any offense in, “The Elite One” shocks everyone in the Richmond Coliseum with a drop toehold. Samuel is shot downward, and his neck meets with the middle rope. Greg’s hands immediately meet at his neck to make sure the ring rope didn’t concave his throat. Samuel breathing patterns change as he struggles to fight off the pain. Knowing this is his time to make if back into the match-up, Caleb has a second wind about him. Pushing to his feet quicker than his legs should allow after that brutal Boston Crab, it’s obvious that Caleb is ready to continue this fight. Samuel pushes up off the ropes as Spires darts toward the adjacent ropes. As “The King of the Gannosuke Clutch” turns around, he is met by a Thesz Press from the former World Champion. The crowd is going insane as Spires is rolling now. Caleb is able to land on his knees and then grabs the back of Samuel’s head and then begins driving punches down on his forehead. With each punch, Greg’s arms pop off the mat from the impact. After a solid half a dozen punches, the ref calls for the break, and Caleb abides. Samuel is feeling the impact of that series of punches, but knows he has to be back to a vertical base or else there is certain doom that awaits. Greg pushes to his feet, noticeably slower than the start of the match. Before Greg can even get his thoughts straightened out, Spires is back on the attack. “The Orgasmic Legend” charges at Samuel, and the former Intercontinental Champion tries to counter with a clothesline that is ducked by the veteran. Caleb stops behind Samuel, facing toward the crowd with an intensely focused look on his face. As soon as Greg turns around, Spires leaps up and lands a pele kick to the head. “The Maine Attraction” falls to his back, clutching his head after Caleb’s signature Encore kick. “The Elite One” is back to a vertical base rather quickly considering his fatigue level. Greg kicks around in pain, as his face pulses. The 5-time World Champion backs into a corner and waits. Every single person in the arena knows that he is setting up for the superkick he calls Lights Out. After lying on the mat for 20 seconds or so, Greg begins the struggle back to a vertical base. His muscles ache but he knows that he has to preserver. Little does he know his fate if he does get back to a vertical base. After a long effort, Samuel reaches his feet, but is staggering quite heavily. Spires waits for “The Maine Attraction” to stop swaying and then strikes, taking a couple quick steps forward and lifting his leg high, connecting with a hard Lights Out straight to Samuel’s jaw. Instantly, Greg falls right down to his back, and there is no question that he is out. The Richmond Coliseum applauds for the veteran who has this match all but locked up. Caleb holds the back of his head as he approaches Greg, and then drops down to cover Samuel. The ref is in perfect position. ONE…TWO…TH-NO! A fraction of a second away from the three count, somehow, Greg manages to capitalize on Caleb’s mistake of not hooking the leg and Samuel drapes his leg over the bottom rope, instinctively.

TED CEDAR: NO WAY! SOME HOW GREG SAMUEL HAD THE MENTAL CAPACITY TO GET A FOOT ON THE BOTTOM ROPE!!

ADAM DENNIS: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

TED CEDAR: WHETHER YOU LIKE HIM OR HATE HIM ADAM, YOU MUST ADMIT THAT HIS WILL TO WIN IS UNBELIEVABLE!

Astonished that Samuel got a foot on the ropes, Caleb rolls off of his opposition and rests his head on the mat. Spires has had a lot of opponents in his day, but it might be hard to find one with as much fight as “The Maine Attraction.” Despite the agony his body is in, Caleb pushes back to his feet slowly, and it is obvious the pain that is running through the 5-time World Champion. He then takes Samuel; who has shown little movement, by the neck. Caleb is now willing the 225-pound Samuel back to a vertical base. “The Maine Attraction” realizes what’s going on about when he’s on his knees, and throws a forearm to Spires’ gut. “The Elite One” doubles over after the unexpected shot. Greg pushes back to his feet, only to have a knee lifted into his stomach. As if mimicking Caleb from seconds ago, Samuel doubles over, clutching his midriff. The 5-time World Champion lifts Samuel back up and takes him in a similar clutch to Samuel’s clutch before the Fatal Attraction. Once Caleb lifts Greg into the air, he hops forward, landing “The Maine Attraction” on his back and neck. In addition to the move he calls Caution, “The Orgasmic Legend” attempts to lock in the Anaconda Vice. Remembering the pain from Revolutionary Wars, Greg causes as much of a hassle as he can for Caleb, not allowing him to lock in the Anaconda Vice. Samuel, one way or another, is able to muster up the strength to lift a knee in the back of Caleb’s head with enough power to disrupt his attempts at locking in the submission move. Spires tumbles away from Greg, clutching the back of his head. Lying only a couple of feet away from him is Samuel who clutches his back and neck, which has taken a good load of impact throughout this match. The ref begins a count on both men. 1. Both men are showing the full toll of what this match has taken out of them. Ever single person in the Richmond Coliseum is trying to will their favorite of the two men back to a vertical base 2. Caleb’s starts opening and closing his hands, showing some sign of life. 3. Greg kicks his legs lightly on the mat, which is a good sign considering all of the trauma his spine has taken during the match. 4. Caleb starts inching his way toward the ropes. 5. Greg rolls over twice, now under the bottom rope and just lies there, still reeling from the beat down he’s taken. 6. Caleb is about an arms reach away from the ropes. Meanwhile, “The Maine Attraction” grabs the bottom rope and begins back to a vertical base.  7. “The Orgasmic Legend” reaches the ropes and begins to make his way back to a vertical base. 8. Greg has pulled up to his knees, and Caleb is on a knee and a foot. 9. Neither man is going to make it back to his feet. The crowd is buzzing, as they don’t think either man is going to make it. At 9 and a half, Spires is back to a vertical base. Caleb leans back, using the ropes to keep him at a vertical base.  A split second before the ref reaches the 10 count, Samuel is able to get back to his feet, staying alive in this main event contest against his dream opponent. Seeing that Greg made it back to his feet, Caleb charges across the ring at him. Doing the only thing he can think of, Samuel drops down, pulling the bottom rope down and sending Caleb over the top rope. The 5-time World Champion holds on to the top rope, keeping him from falling to the mat on the outside. “The Elite One” musters up all his energy and somehow manages to pull himself back to the ring apron. Greg, who is on one knee, unable to stand back up after pulling the ropes down; pushes his battered body back to a vertical base. Greg turns around to see Caleb pushing back to his feet, and approaches the ropes. Samuel takes Caleb in a front face lock. Greg reaches over the top rope and grabs the former World Champion’s tights. “The King of the Gannosuke Clutch” stomps on the ground and then lifts his adversary up and over the top rope. Greg then takes a couple steps back, before dropping Caleb forward, leaving him to spring off of the top rope and then over, slamming down to the mat hard on his back with a Rope Aided Suplex. Caleb cringes and arches his back in pain as the suplex does a lot on his back in the late rounds of this match.

TED CEDAR: Rope Aided Suplex does a lot to the back of the XWA Hall of Famer! Samuel still has fight left after all he’s taken in this match.

ADAM DENNIS: Pisses me off…

Greg struggles back to a vertical base after hitting Caleb with a big suplex. Greg takes a couple steps away from Caleb and then looks out at the Richmond crowd. Samuel then throws a fist in the air to a round of cheers from the capacity crowd in Richmond. It’s clear that ”The Maine Attraction” is looking for his signature finisher Fatal Attraction. Spires is reeling, but works as hard as he can to get back to a vertical base. After a half a minute fighting gravity and pain, Caleb manages to make it back vertical. The 5-time World Champion wobbles around to face Samuel, who then pulls Spires in, grabbing him by his opposite shoulder. “The Maine Attraction” then lifts Spires three inches of the ground before dropping him to his face, completing the Reverse STO known around the world as Fatal Attraction. The impact of the Fatal Attraction on the mat causes Caleb to bounce and then flip to his back, but then he moves no more. Samuel lies on his back as the crowd in the Richmond Coliseum is flipping out at the thought of Greg beating Spires. Samuel is panting heavily, but knows that he needs to fight his exhaustion and cover the former World Champion soon if he wants the win and the three points. Greg rolls over and crawls over to Caleb at a pace considered fast in the snail world, before draping an arm over Caleb. The ref drops down and begins a count. 1, 2, THRE-NO! Somehow, out of complete and utter instinct Caleb wills a shoulder off the mat. The Richmond Coliseum is amazed at what they just saw.

TED CEDAR: WHAT?! CALEB KICKS OUT OF THE FATAL ATTRACTION!

ADAM DENNIS: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

TED CEDAR: After this grueling duel, a brass knuckle shot and a Fatal Attraction, somehow Caleb is still going!

Greg is stunned. The face shows it all, Samuel looks as if he saw a ghost riding a unicorn after Spires kicks out. The Fatal Attraction puts out almost all opponents. But, Caleb Spires isn’t just another opponent. Greg pushes back to his feet, despite the agony he is in, and the disbelief that Caleb kicked out. After arriving to his feet, Samuel reaches down and grabs the back of the barely moving former World Champion’s neck. “The Maine Attraction” then proceeds to begin the lengthy process of getting Caleb back to a vertical base. Gravity is not in Greg’s favor as he looks to lift all 195 pounds of “The Elite One” up to his feet. Samuel struggles, but manages to get Caleb back to his feet. During this time Spires is able to regain his consciousness and restore some energy as he had a free trip back to his feet. “The Elite One” smacks Greg’s hands away and then throws a punch into his opposition’s forehead. Greg staggers back a couple steps but uses the steps back forward as leverage to throw a harder punch. Caleb wobbles back as his head snaps back from the punch. The 5-time World Champion charges forward and returns to punch. Greg’s head snaps back and he drops back a few steps. Samuel returns the punch to Caleb who this time falls back into the ropes. “The Orgasmic Legend” bounces off the ropes and charges at the adversary. Samuel does not expect it as Caleb comes shooting at him and levels him with a clothesline. A loud thud echoes throughout the arena as Greg hits the mat hard. “The Maine Attraction” cringes, but doesn’t have the energy to do anything else as he is so worn down. Caleb is panting heavily, but stumbles into the corner. Spires slowly climbs the turnbuckles, making his way to the top rope. Greg sees this and knows this is his opportunity. Despite all the pain that courses through his bones, Samuel seems to gather his second wind and use it to get back to a vertical base in half the time he should. As Caleb tries to steady himself on the top rope, Greg is making his way up to meet him on the top rope. Unexpected by Caleb, “The Maine Attraction” throws a punch to Caleb’s face. “The Elite One’s” head snaps back and the former World Champion tries to ram Samuel off the top rope. “Beast Mode” keeps his balance and takes Caleb in the STO clutch that he felt only minutes ago. With Samuel’s arm across his chest Spires tries to fight out of the hold, knowing that his could be the end. But, the bullheaded Samuel won’t allow it. Steadying himself out, Greg knows he has to make his move sooner than later. Samuel lifts Caleb up slightly off the turnbuckle and then falls backwards, leaping down off the turnbuckle and slamming Spires down on the mat with 5 times the intensity of the first Fatal Attraction. Again, Caleb’s face bounces off the mat with such impact that he flips on to his back. Samuel arches his back in pain after landing on it. The crowd in Richmond goes insane as Greg just hit a top rope Fatal Attraction.

TED CEDAR: OH MY WORD! GREG JUST HIT A FATAL ATTRACTION FROM THE TOP ROPE!

ADAM DENNIS: NOOOOOO!!! SHIT!!!

Breathing heavier than ever, trying to combat the pain coursing through his body, Samuel pounds his fists on the mat, exciting the Richmond Coliseum even more. Greg turns over to his stomach and crawls to “The Elite One” again who has shown so signs of life. Throughout the course of this match, Caleb has taken a brass knuckle shot, and two Fatal Attractions, one from the top rope. The fact that this match has made it this long is amazing. This could be the moment of Samuel’s career, a pinfall victory over Caleb Spires. With those thoughts coursing through his head, Greg throws his arms over Caleb and the ref begins a count. ONE! TWO! THREE!

JENNIFER LIGHT: HERE IS YOUR WINNER, NOW WITH 8 POINTS IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT, “THE MAINE ATTRACTION” GREG SAMUEL!!!

TED CEDAR: HE DID IT! HE DID IT! GREG SAMUEL BEAT CALEB SPIRES!!!!

ADAM DENNIS: FUCK MY LIFE!!!

The crowd in Richmond explodes as they have just witnessed an upset and a half. The timekeeper rings the bell and the crowd explodes with excitement as Samuel just beat the Hall of Famer. Greg rolls off of Caleb and just lies on the mat with a shocked look on his face after beating the very man who made XWA what it is today. The ref checks on Caleb to make sure he is uninjured and then checks Greg before holding his hand up in the air, signaling he is the victor in this grueling battle of a main event. Samuel rolls over on to his stomach and crawls to the side of the ring where Jennifer Light is and asks for the mic. As Greg gets the mic, his music cuts and from that same position, Greg begins to talk.

GREG SAMUEL: CALEB SPIRES… I have nothing but the utmost respect for you. I consider you one of the best to ever step in this ring. Tonight, you pushed me to the limits of my ability, and I respect the crap out of you for it. This match is something I dreamed about since I stepped into the XWA ring 3 years ago. And tonight, I did all I could to show the World that 3 years after I stepped into this ring, I’m now ready to carry this place’s World Championship.

The crowd cheers as Greg pours his heart out on the mic. Greg uses the bottom rope to pull himself up and then prop himself up there.

GREG SAMUEL: You gave me hands down the best match of my career, and man, it took a Fatal Attraction, and a Fatal Attraction from the top rope to keep you down, AFTER a cheap punch from Smoke Xtreme. Again Caleb, thank you for the match of my career! But, on to next week, I believe the stip of this match says I get to choose my opponent next week. Well… Stevie Kerpowski, get ready bro. Next week, you’re strapping them up and coming down here and facing me! Get ready for a fight, because you better believe that’s what you’re going to get…

TED CEDAR: Next week, Greg Samuel has chosen to face Stevie Kerpowski live on Vendetta! Stevie Kerpowski, you better be ready because this man is on the hot streak of his life!

Greg drops the mic and pulls himself up off the ground and to his feet. Samuel goes over to the corner and holds his hands up in the air. The crowd showers “The Maine Attraction” with applause and cheers after he gave them a performance and a half. Greg is basking in the glory after his huge victory over the 5-time World Champion. After a solid minute up on the turnbuckle celebrating, Greg drops down off of the turnbuckles. Samuel sees Caleb attempting to get back up and goes over and assists him to a vertical base. After helping him up, Samuel shakes “The Elite One’s” hand and then pulls him in and hugs the veteran. Greg then takes Caleb’s wrist and raises his hand, which gets even more ovation from the Richmond crowd. Both of these men just went though a war, but at the end of the day, only one could come out with the three points they needed. This is the shot that ends Vendetta.

(OOC: Well, here it is. I don't know if it's going to be enough to beat Caleb, but it's definitely the best match I've ever wrote. If it doesn't beat Caleb, that's fine because I legitimately put everything I had into this! It was a fun one to write! Best of luck to you Caleb!)

Greg Samuel vs. Caleb Spires Empty
PostSubject: Re: Greg Samuel vs. Caleb Spires   Greg Samuel vs. Caleb Spires EmptySat Aug 10, 2013 10:00 pm

As the main event is just mere moments from getting underway, Spires and Samuel walk around the ring in a circle, eyeing each other down. The fans are sitting on their fat asses in anticipation for the match that could quite possibly steal the show between two of XWA’s biggest names and most loved stars. But the match is a lot more important that just that; This match is a classic battle of a legend who is trying to make a statement as tries to continue his legacy squaring off against one of the younger stars trying to prove that he is able to take that legend to his absolute limit and begin a legacy of his own. While Caleb is the veteran with a very large fan base, Greg also has a lot of fans that respect him as a competitor and know that he will be able to give The Elite One all he can ask for. The referee talks to both men to ensure that they are ready and both of them agree to start the match. The referee signals for the bell and the match gets underway.

~Ding! Ding! Ding!~

Ted Cedar: “Here we go, finally getting our main event of the evening started and I have a feeling it’s going to be a classic, one remembered years from now.”

Adam Dennis: “Could you say anything more generic? Samuel is a mid-card talent at best and Spires is more washed up than a 10 year-old t-shirt. If you’re honestly expecting a match of the year quality match, you’re going to be let down Cedar.”

Both men improve their posture and begin to circle around one another, looking for the right moment to pick their first attack. The Orgasmic Legend extends his fist out, giving The Main Attraction the chance to tap fists as a sign of respect like many MMA fighters and boxers do. Samuel has no hesitation in accepting the offer and the two lunge forward after the fist-tap and lock up, both competitors trying to gain the upper hand with neither really getting much of an offense due to both being about equally matched in strength. Eventually, Greg gets tired of no action taking place and he grabs the inside of Caleb’s arm, dropping to the mat, and flings Spires through the air and onto his back for a picture-perfect arm drag. It takes The Elite One no time to get back up to his feet but he stares at the rising talent, wide-eyed. He was very taken back by having the first move scored against him, especially as smooth as it was hit. Samuel stands on the other side of the ring with a big grin on his face and moves his hands in the motion of “come get some.” Spires shakes off the shock and decides to get serious. He goes back in for another lock-up and is immediately grabbed around the neck and thrown over Greg’s back, hitting a nice headlock takedown putting The Elite One on his back for a quick second.

1-

The 5x heavyweight champion arches his back, bridging as best as he can and twists around to his stomach to avoid the fall and also to try to break the grip around his neck. The Beast Mode tightens his grip, wrenching on the neck of the legend, but Spires will not take being in the position much longer. Caleb gets back up to his feet, uses some momentum, and manages to push Samuel off of him, thus breaking the grip and sending his opponent into the ring ropes. Of course, Greg rebounds off the ropes and comes charging full force at the Orgasmic Legend, but this time Spires has his number. Before The King of the Gannosuke Clutch can slow down and stop his momentum, Caleb gets a quick underhook and tosses Greg over his back, throwing him upside down toward the turnbuckle with a brutal hip toss that leaves the former intercontinental champion dangling upside down, caught in a tree of woe.

Ted Cedar: “Very fast-paced start between two technical wrestlers.”

Adam Dennis: “You’ve GOT to be kidding me. These moves are so basic I feel like I’m watching a middle school practice. I’m taking a nap, wake me up when some real action starts.”

The Maine attraction’s feet are caught under the top turnbuckle as he is upside down, all the blood rushing to his head, and The Elite One takes this time to capitalize. He takes off running to the opposite side of the ropes, bounces off, and rebounds to leap in the air for what seems like an extended time as Caleb sticks out his legs and plants them into the chest of the upside-down Samuel, pulling off a hesitation dropkick that awes the crowd with the perfect timing of it. The velocity of the dropkick makes The Maine Attraction begin to flounder around enough to get his legs free and fall off of the turnbuckle and freeing himself. Spires drags him away from the ropes and hooks a leg as he drops on for an attempt at getting the fall.

1-2

Not nearly enough to put Greg away yet as he shoots his shoulder up with relative. Spires expected as much as he gets back to his feet, stalking his adversary who gets up to his feet a bit slowly. Not giving much recovery time, Caleb jumps into the air, swinging one of his legs for the side of the head of Best Mode, which is smartly ducked and causing the Orgasmic Legend to plant himself onto the mat face and rib first which makes the crowd cringe at the painful look radiating off of Caleb’s face. Making a quick decision, Samuel charges the ropes to gain momentum and as The Elite One tries getting back up to his feet, he is knocked straight back down as Greg steps on his knee with one leg and swings his leg up, kicking Spires in the side of the head with a shining wizard that manages to teach the veteran how to do a step-up head kick. The fans pop loudly for the beauty of such a kick and Spires looks knocked out with his face planted into the mat. Wisely, Greg makes the cover in hopes that it dazed Spires long enough to keep him out for good.

1-2-

The Hoosier veteran manages to push his opponent’s body off of him to stop the fall, but doesn’t immediately get back up to his feet, taking his time to recuperate. This gives Greg a little bit of confidence, knowing that he is wearing down Spires and could quite possibly continue his success in the world heavyweight championship tournament with 3 additional points. He quickly stops thinking about that so he can get his head back in the match. Once The Orgasmic Legend gets back up to his feet, he is met with a swift boot right to the gut, causing him to double over and heave to get some breath back into his system. With Spires trying to get his breath back, Samuel takes the time to drape his arm over his neck, hook his pants, and lifts The Elite One in the air, about to drop him for a suplex. However, using his veteran countering abilities, Caleb manages to do a front flip out of the suplex and land on his feet putting both men at a back to back situation. Both turn to face each other, the only difference being Spires swinging his foot up, turning Samuel right into a hellacious roundhouse kick that sends him stumbling backward with a loss of balance. When he stumbles into the ropes, he falls between them and lands on the outside with a thud. Meanwhile, Caleb rests on one knee to try to gain some of his stamina as Greg lies on the outside clutching the side of his head that just received a big boot to it. The Elite One’s eyes catch the outcome of his roundhouse kick as he peers at his opponent lying on the outside, trying to shake out the cobwebs in his head. This gives Caleb his “steal the show” mentality as he begins crawling across the ring and out to the ring apron. Spires stands up on the ring apron, his back to Samuel as he clutches the top rope with his sweaty hands, glancing back every few moments to see the status of The Maine Attraction, who he notices is up to his feet, teetering to make sure he doesn’t lose his balance. The Elite One capitalizes by springboarding onto the second rope, and leaping off the apron as he attempts a springboard moonsault. The former intercontinental champion is too smart for him though, as he steps to the side shoving the air-bourn 5x heavyweight champion straight onto the thin padding on the outside, which causes a huge thump, an insane “ooh!” from the crowd, and quite possibly broken ribs from the now screaming Caleb. Samuel leans up against the ring apron, catching his breath as his opponent flops around on the outside hollering in pain from completely missing his moonsault and hitting the ground at full force. The fans express general concern for Spires who looks like he might be hurt pretty badly from the blow. The referee’s count is at 3, and The Maine Attraction decides it’s HIS turn to go for the show-stealing move. He rolls into the ring and right back out to the apron so that he can stop the count. As he stands on the apron, he looks down at the XWA hall of famer trying to get back to his feet, and failing, as he uses the crowd barrier for leverage. Samuel grabs the top of the turnbuckle and begins ascending as the crowd cheers on the fact that they know a big spot is coming. Samuel perches himself on the top rope and stands up, trying to keep his balance as he awaits Caleb reaching his feet. Eventually, the crowd barrier helps The Elite One back up, but he turns around into something he was not expecting. Greg flies off the top turnbuckle, coming down about 10 feet with his body stretched out as he collides body to body with The Orgasmic Legend, taking him out with a flying crossbody so impactful that when they go back from the velocity, the go straight through the crowd barrier.

Adam Dennis: “Well, now I’m awake. Watching Caleb absolutely dominated is always a fun time.”

Ted Cedar: “Samuel just broke through the barrier using Caleb’s body! I think it’s obvious right now that The Maine Attraction isn’t accepting defeat just because he’s facing the 5x heavyweight champion, he’s putting it all on the line.”

Adam Dennis: “You don’t say, dumbass? Obviously he’s putting it all one the line. As of now, he and Caleb both have 5 points in the heavyweight title tournament. If Greg can win this match, that could be an extremely crucial moment for him as the tournament goes on..”

“Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!” are the two words that are most clearly understood throughout the arena at the current moment as two competitors lie down on the steel barrier looking up into the lights. The crowd is finally beginning to pick up a little bit. The referee continues to count both men out as he reaches the count of 3. It takes about 6 counts before Greg finally gets up to his feet and puts his arm up to get a reaction from the screaming crowd, converting more of the crowd into believers of the man who could quite possibly be the future of the company. He realizes that he could probably get into the ring right now and he might win by count out, but he doesn’t think that would prove much. He wants to show that he can beat the legend to the point where he can continue. He hoists Spires up to his feet at the count of 8 and drags his lifeless body to the ring, tossing him in before getting in at the count of 9, just barely beating the count. The O-Legend rolls to the center of the ring and Samuel crawls over toward him, about to go for the fall; but then he comes up with a different plan. Sure, pinning the legend would be impressive, but in the current state that Caleb is in, Greg thinks that he could make him tap out. Samuel grabs Spires by both of his legs, tucks his ankles into his armpits and stands up straight. The Elite One wiggles around a little bit, trying to fight it off but the strength of Beat Mode is too…. Beastly. Greg turns Spires onto his stomach and sits down as he torques up on the legs, locking in a Boston crab dead in the center of the ring, with no escape or The Elite One.

Ted Cedar: “It’s locked in deep! And in the center of the ring! Caleb is going to have to work his way out of this one.”

Adam Dennis: “Break that bitch’s back Sammy.”

Ted Cedar: “I had no idea you were such a fan of Greg Samuel?”

Adam Dennis: “I’m not. I just hate him a lot less than Spires.”

Judging by the expression on Caleb’s face, the Boston crab that is locked in doesn’t look like it feels very good. In fact, it looks like it hurts quite a bit. That’s probably because it does though, as Spires gives out a few blood-curdling screeches that would imply he is in pain as he claws at the mat, trying his best to crawl in any which-way direction that might get him out of the dreadfully submission maneuver. However, The Maine Attraction stays immobilized, planting his feet firmly in the mat with no intention of moving until he has made Spires slap the mat. He continues pulling up on the legs and this just crack the back of The Elite One even more, possibly pinching muscles, tearing tendons, or anything else that could possibly be going wrong in a submission such as that. Spires has to clench his hovering hand into a fist to stop himself from making a stupid mistake and tapping out. Meanwhile, Greg is confident that he is about to raise his point total to 8 as he leans back further, practically sitting on Caleb’s upper back. In order to get out of it, The 5x heavyweight champion begins flopping around, twisting and turning as much as he possibly can, trying to roll closer to the ropes. It’s a bumpy ride for Beast Mode who is sitting on the back of Spires, but he manages to keep it in, though his grip is not as tight as it was when he first locked it in. The ropes are closer, and Spires begins clawing at the mat, trying to near them. He’s getting closer… Just a few inches away… Fingertips touching the bottom rope… And Caleb manages to grasp the rope with all his might, forcing the hold to be broken, much to the dismay of Samuel. He lets go of the hold quickly, definitely not risking a stupid disqualification. He releases Spires who may be too crippled to make a movement at this point and figures it can’t hurt to drag him back to the center, hook his leg, and try to get the pin.

1-2-

In what was somewhat of a close call, The Elite One manages to show his persistency and kick out at the last second to keep the match still going and the fans still on the edge of their seat. Samuel is not frustrated yet he expected it would be a tough match and he is ready to keep going the distance. Since the fall didn’t work, yet Caleb can’t get back to his feet by himself, Greg helps the 5x heavyweight champion back to his feet but not as a good gesture, but as a way to continue bringing on the pain as he Irish whips Spires into the ropes. When The Elite One comes back to the center where Greg is awaiting him, he sees The Maine Attraction leaping at him for a Lou Thesz Press. Showing a somewhat impressive feat of strength for the undersized Elite One, he catches Beast mode in mid-jump and hooks one leg, throwing him over his head and following him down to the mat for an amazing reversal of a t-bone suplex. The Maine Attraction lands on the mat very stiffly and arches his back, showing how forceful the slam was. You would expect Spires to capitalize at the moment, but unlike Cena or Hogan, he is actually taking the time to show that he is still trying to regain his composure. By the time his stamina is refilled, he attempts crawling over to Samuel to go for the pin, but Greg is already reaching his feet at this point. This makes Spires get back up to his feet using the help of the top ropes and turn to face Beast Mode at the same time that he turns around as well. The two come at each other, Samuel attempting to take a swing for the Elite One’s precious face. Luckily for Caleb, he manages to duck the flying fist and get Greg in an STO position. Sammy tries to fight out of it by giving a few elbow to the back of Spires’ head, but The O-Legend merely shakes the elbows off, hoists his adversary in the air, with an STO that he sits out onto his back for, his signature Caution, also known as a side effect. This is enough to get the ball back into Caleb’s court for the time being and he plans on capitalizing. He has gained enough momentum and adrenaline for the current time that he doesn’t need to keep taking immense amounts of time to recuperate, so he stumbles over to the corner faster than he has been, and goes out to the apron. He begins climbing the top turnbuckle, a little unbalanced, but still managing to climb without falling off while the fans scream his name. As he perches himself at the top of the turnbuckle, he looks out at the unmoving Samuel, lying unmoved on the mat nearly dead center of the ring, quite a distance. Spires takes a deep breath, hoping that this pays off and doesn’t back fire as he leaps off the top going forward, yet doing a back flip at the same time and twisting in mid-air, coming down on The Maine Attraction as if gravity doesn’t exist for his shooting star press that he refers to as a gravitational pull that sends the fans into a frenzy.

Ted Cedar: “And just like that, The Elite One is back on top, proving that he still has it! It looks like he might be trying to end it early on.”

Adam Dennis: “He’s always got to be so damn flashy. Try and end the match already and stop trying to show off.”

Both men are currently out of their element for the short time being, Samuel having been on the receiving end of the last few moves and Spires doing something high risk that managed to take him out of it for a short amount of time. Soon enough though, Caleb manages to get his head back into it. He knows that Greg is hurt worse than he is for the time being and he plans on capitalizing as he crawls over to the corner, clutches the top rope and pulls himself up to his feet as he clutches his ribs that he stupidly put on the line with the shooting star press, especially after hurting them on the outside of the ring earlier on in the match. Nonetheless, he want it to be over as he stands in the corner nodding and yelling “get up!” as he begins stomping his foot. All the fans know exactly what is coming next and they are hollering out for the general manager and his superkick. He stomps his foot a second and third time, Samuel barely stirring, not yet up to his feet when the crowd begins to boo. This catches Caleb’s attention, as the fans were so upbeat just a few seconds ago. Spires stops his stomping and looks around to see what the negative reaction is all about. He doesn’t want to jump to too many conclusions, but he assumes it’s probably the chief operating officer, Smoke Xtreme, strutting down to the ring all cocky-like with his massive bodyguards Reiko and Scorpion. They’re either booing them, or Mike Lamar. It’s probably Mike Lamar.

Ted Cedar: “Get them out of here! They have no business being involved in this match, can’t they just let these two wrestle in peace?!”

Adam Dennis: “Show some respect for the chief operating officer, would ya?! He’s in charge here and if he wants to come out in the middle of the match then so be it, you can’t tell him otherwise! Proceed, Mr. Xtreme.”

Regardless, The Elite One stops paying attention to the matter at hand in the ring and begins focusing on the COO who is definitely not a huge fan of the general manager. Caleb begins yelling out some very insulting things, the most vivid one to come out of his mouth, slipping by the censors, being “Get in the ring and do something, pussy!” Smoke acts like he’s coming down to the ring, and The 5x heavyweight champion is prepared as ever, ready for a fight. However, the COO backs up with a shit-eating grin on his face, his bodyguards by his side. Caleb’s face is getting red and he continues talking crap to Smoke. His focus was lost so bad that he completely forgot about the recovering Greg and is reminded with a tough, thunderous kick to the ribs making him grunt in pain as he doubles over. The Maine Attraction pants heavily as he is just recovering too, but his adrenaline is whispering to him “Here’s your chance, finish him off.” As The Elite One is doubled over, Beast Mode takes this opportunity to grab him in an inverted DDT position and grab him by his pants. Samuel lifts him up, keeping him dangled upside down and then falls straight back, slamming Spires face and rib-first into the cold, crushing mat below with a devastating inverted suplex that leaves The Orgasmic Legend flopping around like a fish who has had his gills surgically removed. The pain that is stinging in Caleb’s crushed midsection might be a little too much to bear anymore. Smoke and his body guards begin clapping for Samuel and The Maine Attraction just stares coldly at them, unpleased with the distraction. They begin leaving the stage area with their work possibly being done, leaving Greg to angrily call out “I don’t need any help, I can finish this on my own!” Though not happy with the extra help, Greg hops on him, hooking a leg and hoping he gets the 3-count.

1-2-

With all the force the mighty, little guy has, he manages to kick out, which somewhat just hurts his ribs even worse. Samuel sits up and sighs, asking the referee if he is sure it was only a two count, which the referee confirms. Samuel shakes it off and gets up, as he has intentions of keeping his technical superiority rolling. As The Elite One gets to his knees, trying to reach his feet again, he is met with a boot right to the ribs, keeping him from doing so. The 5x heavyweight champion is doubled over, gasping for air that The Maine Attraction repeatedly is driving out of him. Samuel grabs Caleb’s arm and puts it between his legs and holds it firmly in place as he pulls him up to his feet. He then drapes Caleb’s other arm over the back of his neck, leaving the midsection of Spires completely exposed. He then hoists him into the air and throws The Elite One over his head and sending him crushing to the mat on his ribs yet again, this time with a pumphandle suplex that is only wearing down the Orgasmic Legend even more as the fans begin to express some serious concern for the general manager who looks like something could definitely be broken or cracked. Samuel doesn’t look happy about hurting Caleb; he has respect for him, but at this point the main thing on his mind is getting his three points and moving another step closer to the heavyweight championship as he drops down on top of his fallen adversary and hooks his legs, praying that it will be over this time.

1-2-

Yet again, The Elite One barely makes it before the final hand slap and kicks out. At this point in time, Samuel is finally beginning to get slightly frustrated as he looks at the ref holding up three fingers and is promptly denied. He sits up, beginning to wonder how much he is going to have to put the legend through until he reaches his breaking point. He bends down, picking up the XWA hall of famer by his hair and is met with a rippling knife-edge chop letting out a loud cracking noise with pure hand on chest. Greg back up a little bit with a cringing look on his face as the camera reveals a large, red handprint across his chest. Spires is on his knees, holding his ribs and Greg comes back over to him to try to mount more offense, but Caleb gets up to his feet and chops him the chest yet again, nearly as loud an painful as the second one. The Maine Attraction is getting rather sick of the chops and tries to clothesline The Elite One’s head right off of his shoulders. At last second, The 5x heavyweight champion drops down to avoid the arm that was about to take his head completely off of his shoulders, does a back flip, and Pele kicks Samuel in the head with his Encore kick that catches Beast Mode right in the temple. The crowd hollers loudly, for they did not see that coming and at the moment Greg can’t see anything because he’s light on his feet and his vision is rather blurry. After attempting to stay up for a few seconds, the dizziness catches up with him and he falls into the corner, resting on the turnbuckles to get back in the right state of mind. While he rests in the corner, Spires gets up, clutching his ribs that have been put through hell and back in the last few minutes. Once he has recuperated, he notices that Beast Mode is lying against the turnbuckle, dazed and unmoving and Caleb thinks that this is his perfect chance to mount a comeback. He begins charging across the ring, ready to plant a shoulder into Samuel’s stomach with a spear, but in the last split second, Samuel drops out of the way, leaving nothing but the steel ring post for The Elite One to collide with, potentially popping his shoulder right out of it’s socket, causing a loud “ooooh!” from the cringing crowd. While Spires leans into the post, not moving because of the pain of the unfortunate collision, The Maine Attraction leans against the ropes, shaking his head to try and get his dizziness out of the picture. He shakes off his head pain and stands behind the Orgasmic legend, stalking him, like a tiger waiting to pounce on a wounded gazelle. After what seems like an eternity, Caleb begins backing out of the corner, tending to his ribs and shoulder and then is grabbed from behind and tucked under Samuel’s arm in an inverted DDT position. The former intercontinental champion drops forward like Christian does for his inverted DDT and slams him onto the mat by the back of his head, hopefully rendering him unconscious with his Great Pine Press that is REALLY beginning to get the crowd behind him, impressed with how he has been taking it to Caleb for a great portion of the match.

Ted Cedar: “Every time Caleb begins to build offense and looks to be getting the upper hand, he is blocked off by Samuel! Has Spires finally found a young gun that has his number?”

Adam Dennis: “Ohhh puh-lease. Spires is so past his prime you’d probably be able to carry out a good match with him.”

Samuel rests on his knees for a second, looking down at The Elite One who is definitely out of his element after the inverted DDT. He thinks about going for the cover, but stops dead in his tracks. He looks over to the corner and points to the top rope. This action receives a warm reception from the crowd and Greg nods to their clear intent of what they want him to do. While The Orgasmic Legend lay on the mat without a single movement, The Maine Attraction slips out of the ropes and out to the apron, slowly climbing to the top of the ropes, praying on the way up that his next move is a success. Caleb doesn’t look like he is moving, or even aware of what is going on and this gives Beast Mode his opportunity to strike. Greg stands tall on the top rope, pointing out to his applauding crowd and motions for them to make some more noise. They comply with his request and he goes flying off the top, dropping The grenade on top of The Elite One, driving his elbow right into the already injured ribs of Spires and then quickly bounces screaming along with the fans as he is transitioning into Beast Mode(ba-dum-tss). Greg pants heavily as he looks down at the fallen legend, wheezing and gasping for more oxygen. It’s time to put him to rest. The King of the Gannosuke Clutch begins to beat his chest with his fist and yells out loudly, all of his supporters screaming for what they have a feeling is coming next; The Fatal Attraction. Samuel crouches down in a squatted position and moves his hands up and down as he crouches behind Spires, waiting for the groggy man to reach his feet. The intense look on Greg’s face could be misconstrued as anger, but it is instead a serious look of a career defining moment, as he is ready to seal his new legacy by defeating the 5x heavyweight champion. Caleb has a LOT of trouble reaching his feet again, possibly crushed ribs, dislocated shoulder, and just a lack of knowing what exactly is going on. Samuel is shaking with intensity, thinking that he may be merely a few seconds away from being top dog in the company. After a seemingly long wait, Spires reaches his feet, stumbling around and turns around right into an STO position. Greg grabs Spires by the pants and prepares to lift him up and plant his beautiful face into the mat. However, The Elite One has at least a little where-with-all to elbow him in the back of the head a couple times to delay the Fatal Attraction. Samuel shakes it off and lifts Spires. In an amazing feat, Caleb jumps to the side, twisting out of the position that Greg had him in, but keeps Greg’s arm locked with his, and grabbing his opposite arm with his free hand. This leads to a very quick twist around with Samuel’s head into The Elite One’s back and Spires wastes absolutely no time in dropping him right onto his face, giving him a Facial so brutal that Greg may need facial reconstructive surgery after the match.

Adam Dennis: “Damn it, Samuel, get your act together. I can’t believe you’re letting this geriatric has-been get even the slightest bit of offense.”

Ted Cedar: “The tides may be turning for the 5x heavyweight champion! He had an amazing reversal, but the question is will he be able to stay on a roll or was that just a lucky move?”

The injured Spires and weakened Samuel both lie on the mat, trying to get as much breath as they can back into their bodies and overcome their weaknesses they are currently going through. Greg lies on his back, face buried in his hands after being planted right into the mat without anything to block it with. The meek Caleb crawls to couple inches and weakly pulls his leg in the air, his back on top of The Maine Attraction.

1-2-

Dismay sets in for The Elite One who was hoping that would be enough to put his adversary away. SPOILER ALERT: It wasn’t, because Greg kicks out at the count of two. Claps are heard well throughout the arena, as well as half the crowd going back and forth with “Let’s go Caleb! Sam-u-el! Let’s go Caleb! Samuel!” Caleb begins stirring on the mat, looking for anything nearby that can help him to his feet, not sure if he has enough strength for the time being to get up all by his self. Luckily, the nearby ropes makes for some very good leverage in pulling him back up to his feet, beating Beast Mode who is only on his hands and knees, not facing Spires. The upper lip of the legend begins to quiver and he silently begins to tap his foot and old-school fans of the man screech in excitement, getting the vibe that Samuel may not be seeing lights anymore. The Maine Attraction is back to his feet, back facing the 5x heavyweight champion with ill intentions. As soon as Greg turns around, the hall of famer lunges forward, ready to decapitate Samuel. However, plans don’t go as expected for Caleb. Before his foot reaches the chin of The Maine Attraction, he grabs his foot in midair, leaving Spires standing and hopping on one leg. With all of his might, the former intercontinental champion throws down Caleb’s leg, tweaking it for a second and making him stumble forward…. Right back into the STO position he had earlier. Before Caleb has the time to counter it this time, Samuel lifts him up in the air and falls to his back, slamming The Elite One right on his face, delivering quite possibly his best Fatal Attraction ever due to the circumstances.

Ted Cedar: “Bah GOD! I can’t believe Samuel just hit the fatal Attraction! I try not to be a betting man, but I think we’re about to see a HUGE upset!”

Fans of Greg all over the world are standing up screaming their heads off as Spires crumple on the mat in pure pain, and as of now it’s Greg’s for the taking. He is in pain as well and it takes him a second to regroup, but he realizes the position he is in and can’t risk giving up this huge opportunity as he scurries over as quickly as he can and makes the cover, all the fans counting out with the ref as they get ready to hear the bell ring.

1-2---

In what seems like the closest count ever, merely nanoseconds before the ref slaps his hand for the third time, the Elite One shows his heart and soul by forcing his shoulder off the mat and causing one of the largest pops of the night. It looks as though Spires is dead, let alone able to kick out. Samuel sits up, wide-eyed and begins to shake his head. THIS close. He clenches his fists and gets a crazed look in his eye as he thinks of how close he came. “This guy isn’t even f*ckin’ human,” he says to himself. He doesn’t know what else he can do, other than get back to his feet, await Spires getting back up, and go for yet another Fatal Attraction. The Orgasmic Legend gets on his hands and knees, looking around with his blurry vision, unaware of whatever may be around him. The Maine Attraction gets closer and closer with each movement that Spires makes to get back on his feet, his back facing Greg who is ready to put him away for good. Then, with what might be a veteran instinct, Spires turns the tides completely. Not even looking behind him at The Beast Mode, Caleb lifts his foot in the air, connecting straight to the chin with his foot, knocking the Lights Out of the amazing star who has pushed the match to this limit to an outstanding roar of the crowd. The legs of The Elite One buckle and he immediately falls to his knees. With Greg possibly KOed, Spires falls forward right on top of him with his arm draped across his chest for the cover.

1-2----

Kickout!

Adam Dennis: “You’ve gotta be kidding me! This kid is insane! How the hell is he still going?!”

As Greg lie on the mat, tending to his possibly broken jaw, The Orgasmic Legend slumps over, in absolute disbelief that a Lights Out wasn't even good enough to finish him off. And if that can't do it, what can? Caleb is far past his breaking point and at this point, he doesn't really care anymore. He may be walking out of the match broken, but he is at least making it so that he isn't the only one coming out of it broken. Caleb is weak and can barely feel his body properly, but he manages to crawl back into the corner, awaiting for Samuel to reach his feet so he can continue rolling with his momentum. The Maine Attraction makes it back up to his feet, fumbling around and hardly able to stand, and Caleb jumps at him, tucking his head under his arm, and drops his head into the mat with a nice jumping DDT. You would think this put Caleb at a huge advantage, right? Well, not quite. You see, Greg managed to wrap his arms around the legend's legs and when he was taken down, simultaneously slams The Elite One with a spinebuster damaging both men and putting them in the same position they have been in for the last few minutes of the contest.

Adam Dennis: "Oh my God, this is so tiresome. Can they go ten seconds without putting each other out for twenty minutes?"

Ted Cedar: "That's what happens when you have two men willing to out everything on the line. I love it, I can't remember the last time we have seen a contest like this on Vendetta."

Yet again, both men are down after performing a double move on each other, and they both state up at the rafters hoping that they can both capitalize off of it and hopefully end this hell of a match. Both bodies are so weak, that it takes the help of one another to get them back to a vertical basis. They turn to their stomachs and grab each others arms. The two get as close as they can and get on their tiptoes, scooting up to their feet slowly. Both men finally get back to their feet, bruised, battered, beaten, weak, and nearly lifeless a from the own personal hell that they have both put each other through. The two lean up against each other for leverage, chest to chest, both shaky on their feet and close to falling down, only holding themselves up by each other. The fans are giving both men a standing ovation already, realizing that the two have put on what may be remembered as an instant classic years down the line. Samuel and Spires realize that if neither of them are doing anything, the match will never end and in order to win someone has to do something. The Maine Attraction takes action. He drops down to the ground, trapping the left leg of The Elite One, drop toe holding him right throat first into the second rope. Caleb coughs out. Lung after his neck went into the wrapped up cable and he snaps back come rely, hunched over as he grabs his neck, wheezing and trying to get a little bit of air back into his lungs. Samuel wisely capitalized by dropping down and rolling up The Orgasmic Legend, trying to pull a fast one that he very well may pull off.

1-2-

The 5x heavyweight champion kicks both of his legs up as best as he can to get his shoulders off the mat. In the process of kicking up, he manages to wrap his legs around Samuel's arm and pull him down to the mat with his legs, trapping his arm awkwardly and keeping him in place. The announcers gasp and then fans know exactly what he has reversed the roll-up into as Spires locks both of his hands around the face of The Maine Attraction and pulls back, locking in the ever-so-famous submission maneuver, the Orgasmic Crossface.

Ted Cedar: "It's in!! It's in! Somehow Caleb managed to reverse the roll-up into his devastating Crossface!"

Adam Dennis: "For Christ sake, how in the hell did he do that?!"

Yes folks, Samuel has been locked into the deadly Orgasmic Crossface that only few men have survived.. And man is this a tough one. It is locked in as right as The Elite One can possibly put it in, and he shows absolutely no remorse as he pulls back with all his might, leaving Greg in a world of hurt. The Maine Attraction shows how much pain he is in by moaning and grimacing even louder with each second the hold is applied.. And it just HAD to be in the damn center of the mat of all places. The ropes seem as though they are miles away and completely out of reach for Samuel who seemingly has nowhere to go. But he is refusing to tap. No matter how hard Caleb synchs it in, he is not giving up. He will still try to find any way he can to get out. The Elite One can't believe it. The look in his eyes says "crazy son of a bitch," but the clenching of his teeth says "tap if you know what's good for you." It sounds like the neck of Beast Mode is beginning to crack and years begin streaming down his face. He gets to his knees, though the hold is still locked in. In an absolutely desperate attempt to turn the tides, he rolls forward... And ends up placing The Elite One on his back with the hold still applied on him.

1-2-

Though a very wise and persistent desperation move, The Orgasmic Legend rotates back to the same position they were in a few seconds ago, off of his back. Samuel hovers his hand above the mat, contemplating smacking it and ending the torturous pain of the crossface, but he then shakes his head an instead uses his hand to try to break the grip that The Elite One has in, which is to no avail. The ropes are closer than they were before the roll, and it looks like they may be within reach if Greg tries hard enough. He has to try it, he has no other option. He extends his hand, trying to reach the bottom rope that is still out of his grasp. They seem to be getting closer, less than a foot away... When Spires begins scooting away from them with the submission still applied. That's it, there's no escape anymore. It's locked in and there's no getting out of it. All the same, The Maine Attraction hasn't tapped out and everyone continues to stay in surprise at the guts he has. The match has gone the distance, he has taken the legend to his breaking point and at many times was SO close to obtaining victory that throwing it all away would be such a pain. He can't risk falling 4 points behind a star like Spires. But sometimes you reach a point when you have to swallow your pride and accept defeat. Greg made thousands of people new believers in him and gave the XWA hall of famer so many headaches he'll probably be overdosing on Advil tonight. It upsets him greatly, as he is losing a point in the process, but he still has a chance to win and can't risk having a broken neck. Samuel taps out, ending the match and his pain, and allows a massive sigh of relief from Spires who immediately relinquishes the hold.

~Ding! Ding! Ding!~

The match concludes as "Fake It," by Seether play throughout the arena while the fans stand to their feet screaming absolutely wild for the amazing main event they just witnessed. Greg Samuel slumps over, devastated that he managed to come as close as he did and yet lost to the legend known as Caleb Spires. Both lie on their backs, staring up at the rafters unmoving, eyes practically rolled back into their skulls. The announcers are going ballistic; even Dennis cannot deny that the two put on one helluva match. It takes a while for the broken, battered Spires to get back up to his feet, with a lot of help from the ropes. He nearly falls down multiple times, but manages to stay on his feet after a little bit of work. Greg slowly follows him, clutching the ropes in a desperate attempt to reach his feet and walk away with all the pride he had left. He claps his hand for The Elite One and then begins to pimp out of the ring, allowing Spires to bask in his victory glory. This is not how Caleb wants the show to end. He quickly leans between the ropes, calling for a microphone before The Maine Attraction gets the chance to exit.

Caleb Spires: "Whoa, whoa, whoa. You aren't leaving just yet. Get back here Greg."

The words of the 5x heavyweight champion catch the attention of Samuel who stops leaving the ring and comes back to the center, interested in what it is that Caleb has to say to him. Spires is panting in exhaustion, but he manages to lift the microphone to his mouth and make out what it is he needed to say.

Caleb Spires: "You are not leaving without shaking my hand like a man who just took me to my absolute limit."

A smile comes across the face of Samuel who gladly extends his hand. Caleb shakes it and nods at him with absolutely no regret and the fans all begin to stand to their feet and cheer as loudly as they can for two of the most popular stars sharing a complete moment of respect for one another. Greg nods at him and pats Spires on the back, wishing him the best in the rest of the world title tournament. Before Beast Mode exits the ring, Caleb raises the microphone once more.

Caleb Spires: "I believe that the stipulation of this match was that I get to choose my opponent if I won. That’s a pretty cool stipulation that I have thought long and hard about. But I don't want one opponent; I would rather have two."

The entire fan base of The Elite One have no idea as to why he finds it necessary to risk not advancing further in the tournament, but at the same time they decide to listen to what he has to say because they feel he must have some form of logically explanation behind it.

Caleb Spires: "I'm not sure if in breaking the rules by doing this or not, but this is what I choose to be my match next week. Right now, I couldn’t really care less whom I end up facing. Kind of odd considering I could choose anyone I want and could pick any new comer to just walk right through, but I am confident I could defeat anyone on the roster. Which brings up my next point; I have been involved with tag team matches my whole career. I am a 6x tag team champion with multiple different people and have never lost a 2-on-2 tag team match my entire time in XWA. So instead of choosing my opponents for next week, I’m trading in that option to choose my partner instead."

Adam Dennis: “Is he even allowed to do that?”

Ted Cedar: “Uhh, that’s a good question.. Well, he did win the match where he allowed to choose his match for next week, so I don’t see why not. Plus he’s the general manager.”

Everyone waits in anticipation, wondering who it is that Spires intends on teaming with next week. Is he bringing back one of his former partners like Kanimaniac, Hall, Ash Wheeler? The suspense is killing them and The Orgasmic Legend is just delaying his response to get them even more riled up. Eventually, he stops keeping them in suspense and reveals his team mate.

Caleb Spires: “So the question is ‘who should be my tag team partner?’ Well, I was thinking someone who knows what it is like to steal the show against anyone he faces… someone who is likely to main eventing in the near future… someone who earned a damn good amount of respect from me tonight.”

The crowd knows what Caleb is getting at and they are going crazy. The Maine Attraction is wide-eyed wondering if Caleb is going with this where he thinks he is as The Elite One takes a step closer to him.

Caleb Spires: "Next week, some sad, sad team will have the misfortune of going up against me, and my tag team partner… GREG SAMUEL"

Upon given the offer/request to team with the 6x tag team champion, Samuel is in absolute shock as he nods his head up and down and tells Caleb "I won't let you down, I promise." Everyone in the crowd are in a frenzy, wildly screaming for the two who faced off tonight will be teaming up the next week. The Maine Attraction once again extends his hand and Spires is more than willing to accept it as he shakes it up and down, staring into his next week’s partners eyes as he grins at him, passing along his approval of the next big star.

(OOC: I had a pretty good time writing this for the most part. I definitely didn’t expect my match to be this long and sorry if the extremely selling was overkill toward the end. I’m happy that I got to face Greg, who has one hell of a good match. At this point, the main reason I want to win is so that I can have a tag team match with him next week, something we talked about briefly a few weeks ago. Good luck Greg!)
