Daniel Bryan, who is admittedly a fan of the team, loved Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's post-game interview with Erin Andrews after the NFC Championship Game when he called out San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree for being "sorry".
"Best in the game and not afraid to say it," was Bryan's response.
That's all well and good but Roman Reigns, who is admittedly a fan of the 49ers, has a different take on Sherman's promo, as told to Chad Dukes (via ChadDukesWrestlingShow.com):
"I heard him say a good line, he didn't make a play he made ‘the play', which in his own right, that's awesome, I enjoyed that. But his whole remarks about Crabtree being mediocre, he kinda just buried himself to me. You're the best cornerback in the game and they're putting you on a mediocre receiver? You only made one play on a mediocre receiver? Which I think he, if he understood the psychology of smack talk, he would build up that receiver and then put himself over even more. You know, ‘I'm going against this all-pro bad ass wide receiver, but guess what,
I'm the best corner back in the game. I'll lock down anybody.'"
Reigns hasn't been given much time to showcase his promo skills since being called up to the main roster in WWE, what with Dean Ambrose in his stable, but he obviously understands the basics. If you put down your opponent, you're made to look worse when you go over on him.
If Crabtree is so sorry, why was Sherman, the best, tasked with guarding him?
The truth is that Crabtree isn't sorry, Sherman probably is the best (right now), and emotions get the best of us all. Still, love the critique from a (probably bitter) 49ers fan.
