'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' writer Roberto Orci wants to ''shake up'' the superhero genre with the upcoming 'Venom' spin-off.

The acclaimed screenwriter has been tasked with writing a spin-off to the popular web-slinging franchise, along with Alex Kurtzman and Ed Solomon, and he says the trio hope to spice up comic book films by focusing on Venom, one of Spider-Man's most feared rivals.

Quizzed what audiences can expect from 'Venom', he said: ''I think they're ready to have things shaken up. I think we've all seen everything. You've seen everything. You can probably predict the ending of most things even better than a general audience, but a general audience is still pretty good at it. They can see it all coming. So we have to shake it up. You can't just keep telling the same stories every day.''

In addition to 'Venom', Sony Pictures has announced another spin-off film, 'The Sinister Six', which will focus on a slew of villains featured in the 'Spider-Man' comic books.
Orci says it will be a challenge to make the nefarious characters more palatable to movie fans and has taken inspiration from great 'antihero' characters in film and TV.

He explained to IGN: ''There are some antiheroes in this day and age. There's been examples of that even on TV - Vic Mackey on 'The Shield', one of the great antiheroes of all time. There are ways to milk that story. Audiences have seen everything. They've seen all the good guys who never do anything wrong. Is there a story in seeing the other side? That's the challenge, and that's the fun. I'm not sure how we're going to do that yet.''

Films on the villans is a great idea. Hopefully the venom film will repair the damage done to him by spiderman 3.
