The official promotional poster for the 2014 Royal Rumble pay-per-view (seen above) has been released, and features current World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, surrounded by Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and a whole crew of WWE Superstars. In an interesting note, PPV provider InDemand released a description for the event:

"Don't miss John Cena, C.M. Punk, The Shield, and all your favorite WWE Superstars as they compete for the right to face the WWE or World Heavyweight Champion in the ultimate battle at WWE Royal Rumble, Sunday, January 26."

While this is probably just dated, as WWE likely doesn't release all its plans ahead of time for InDemand, Randy Orton and John Cena are scheduled to unify the WWE and World Heavyweight Championship at this month's TLC pay-per-view. There has also been talk of WWE running some sort of angle where Cena and Orton pull down each other's titles during their TLC match, which would keep the titles separate and void the point of a unification match.

They should just let Cena hold the WHC... it's gotten a lot more prestige since he's held it.

I don't think it has tbh. It's still the same title, just around Cena's waist.

When was the last time the WHC got a bigger response than the WWE champ? Or the last time the WHC was in any sort of legit main event? If you can't see that the title is a lot bigger cause of Cena holding it, you're either not watching the same RAW I am or you're blind.

The title hasn't really received a huge boost, YET. Cena holding it has given it more of a main event presence, but I'd argue that he needs to hold it for longer, and needs to go through some real battles to defend it, to make it seem like it's something worth defending.

Which is why I don't like the idea of him and Orton swapping titles at TLC. Cena holding the WHC for...a month and a bit? and then swapping it for the WWE title just makes the title seem worthless, like WWE are trying to get it away from him as soon as possible.

You could say "how does merging the titles help the WHC"...it doesn't, but then the WHC wouldn't exist anymore so it wouldn't need boosting >_>.

Well, they did just "put it on him", making Del Rio job to him and stuff. If that's not enough proof that the World Heavyweight Championship is getting ready to head to the Hall of Fame with the WWE spinner belt, remember that Sandow failed to cash in and after much hype, Del Rio failed again to beat Cena for the belt. Now he's going to just face Orton for the WWE title while putting his championship on the line without ANY build to a match like this? It gets you thinking.

God, I can actually see that happening. Just what them two need - more bullshit title reigns.

It would make better sense to do the unification at Mania as it's a big deal or should be anyway.

The poster was made before Kane took off his mask

So? At least the WHC didn't open the show like always.

It's also not main eventing the shows, so therefore it isnt a main event title just yet.

It doesn't matter, it has MORE HYPE, it's also going to main event TLC so it's better than before.

If there wasnt a title unification match, it wouldnt of been, LOL. It only has more hype because of the match it's being defended in, plain and simple. If Cena was defending the title against Del Rio again it would of been in the middle of the card.
