The Wrap reports that James Foley (House of Cards) is in negotiations to direct a film based on the 1990 cult classic Jacob's Ladder for Mickey Liddell's LD Entertainment.
The original film was directed by Adrian Lyne from a script by Bruce Joel Rubin. It starred Tim Robbins as a Vietnam veteran who suffers from "increasingly bizarre hallucinations". It's known for it's strange visuals and its twist ending.
The film that Foley could direct is not a remake but instead an homage to the original film with a new situation and characters. It will still "pose similar existential questions regarding life, death, reality and perception."
Liddell and LD Entertainment's Jennifer Monroe will produce with Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig (Fright Night). Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train) wrote the script, which has changed since it was written by Jake Wade Wall (When a Stranger Calls).
Gaeta and Rosenzweig are also working on a remake of 1987's Angel Heart.
