Storylines in the Fed Empty
PostSubject: Storylines in the Fed   Storylines in the Fed EmptyTue Nov 12, 2013 8:02 pm

In regards to a thread made earlier by Razor and seeing as people looked past my statenment, what would add a bit of new life into the fed is something that I've advocating for the longest of time and I was actually DOING when I was GM (reference Hitman Alex and Riley Williamson feud). Bringing more kayfabe into the eFed. Have guys work together on promos and storylines because right now, each person is going out to the ring and talking all night, but that's not entertaining much of any and somewhere along the line, people decided that they didn't want others using their characters so no one has interaction before their matches.

Currently, every guy here has their own version of events and how they went down in XWA. Generally, no one knows what is going on in the eFed at first glance and would have to follow people consistently and talk to them directly to know what everyone is doing. A post show recap section where the winning matches are posted along with promos in the order they came would add a pacing and realism to the fed. Keeping along with this would be storyline advancements updates that are done after Cards to shed light on major storylines as well as what is happening with midcarders and not just main event storylines, this can be done regularly through XWA.com and should NOT, be done by the wrestlers, but by the GM alone.

Continuing with this is the idea of structuring match finishes and general overview to go into storyline canon. Some people may not be wholly satisfied with their entire match being scrapped and having to go with another's match that showed them in lesser light for storyline purposes. To remedy this, the eFedders would have to PM the victor and work together to come up with a proper finish that both men are suitable with and gets their ending points across. This is something I tried to do with Chilly this last card, but he seemed to brush off that email. What can be done to combat this is to add the GM to the initial PM you send (as well as all others PMs exchanged between you two) and the recipient must reply within 24 Hrs the email being sent--granted, they have to be shown to have logged back on within that time span, if they do not, it warrants a reply the next time they log in. If communication is not had within 48 hrs of the initial message, the GM who was also added to the conversation must come read both endings and come up with a conclusion that suits both men, but if contact is made and an agreement is done, the finished product must be sent to the GM as a summary to be posted on XWA.com.

In relation to promos and storylines, as above, I made reference of Hitman Alex and Riley Williamson's feud under my time as General Manager. At my behest, those two worked together and came up with promos that got each man's point across. Though, unlike what has gone on before and after my time, I gave each man a direction. I asked them beforehand if there was anything they wanted to do specifically, they had vague ideas and I used that to build off of and give them something to work with. That's what a GM does, not simply grade matches, make rules, and throw out cards.[/quote]

It's a good idea if a GM goes to two people and be like "Hey, you're going to be facing this guy at the PPV, you should come up with a storyline." But in terms of having to get your opponent's permission before you write your finish, absolutely not.

I didn't say to write the finish. It's after the match has been graded and a victor named. If there is something that develops the story and can be added while still maintaining a proper story, then it should be looked into if the loser wants to make it happen.

I already told you my thoughts on this in the other thread. If people want to create a storyline for themselves, that's on them. I will help them in every and any way that I can (IE, booking certain matches, giving certain people the opening or closing segment, etc.), but I am not going to force anyone to write anything. That is completely on them.

You're not going to reinvigorate the eFed by bringing back old ideas. We've already seen the results of points systems and rankings. You're not an idea man Razor, and going back to the well isn't going to make the eFed any better.

Well how is it always for Razor to make feuds? Shouldnt people actually care to make their own? Honesatly thats over half the issue alone, people dont give a fuck to make feuds half the time. I went to Abdel for the feud i got with him. I went to kylie for what I got with her. If others cared and asked, might have something worth it....

You are under the impression that the GM needs to create storylines. You are wrong. If someone is too stupid that they can't come up with a storyline for themselves then they must not be very creative, and being creative is a big part of eFeds. If someone else is doing your storylines for you, that takes a big part of the creativity away.

The last paragraph is what every General Manager here has done since the fed started...

Something like this was done all the time when I was part of CC for a promo based thread, which is pretty much the more suited way to handle it, given most of the promos were usually outside the box creative work and not really anything action based. I mean I like it, the concept, but it would be something to suggest for Revenge more than anything else.

I don't know, why do I bother trying to contribute anything, it all just comes out wrong.

No, I'm not under the impression, I'm saying thats what needs to be done. That creative boost that can put people in the right direction. Sure not everyone needs it, but if many do. Which is why you don't see many people actually having interwoven storylines. It doesn't exactly mean they are uncreative, it just means that they don't know who to interact with to get things going or have a set direction. All the GM would do is guide.

@Chilly, no, no they didn't. I am not talking about that I created a promo, I guided them as I heard each man's ideas and pitched back to them what could be done. But I didn't just do it for those two, I did it for the entire eFed.

ALSO, there is MUCH more to that damn writing than what a GM is supposed to do, ala, the XWA.com mention and show structure.
