NXT TAKEOVER: CHICAGO June 16, 2023
AEW MATCH #1 Dexter Lumis (80%) vs. Maven (20%)
WINNER: DEXTER LUMIS
Backstory: Maven has been extremely cocky and arrogant with a solid undefeated streak in NXT thus far (a couple victories). He crossed paths backstage with the very stern and quiet Dexter Lumis a few weeks back and it was a big mistake. Dexter Lumis wins his first match on AEW NXT pretty handily.
AEW MATCH #2 War Games Match D-Generation X (Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, El Phantasmo & Tony Nese (50%) vs. Deuce, Domino, Evan Bourne & Wolfgang (50%)
WINNER: D-GENERATION X
Backstory: D-Generation X (particularly Road Dogg & Billy Gunn) have been running their mouth from the start of CTE while bringing in El Phantasmo & Tony Nese at the start. They've specifically started a rivalry with the greasers Deuce & Domino who won't just take their shit and also bumped heads with Evan Bourne & Wolfgang in their paths. This all led to a War Games match and DX backs it up with a big victory here.
AEW MATCH #3 AEW NXT World Heavyweight Championship Chris Benoit (C) (20%) vs. Baron Corbin (w/ Madcap Moss) (80%)
WINNER: BARON CORBIN
Backstory: Baron Corbin defeated Andre Chase, Evan Bourne & Kip Sabian in a Fatal 4-Way match on the AEW Dynamite following Double or Nothing to become the #1 contender for the AEW NXT World Championship. During the match: D'Angelo Dinero interferes in the main event. D'Angelo Dinero had been M.I.A. since his loss to Chris Benoit (flashback: Benoit finished the match at Double or Nothing with a menacing crossface that he didn't let go of for countless seconds after the match --- Benoit rage was initiated by multiple cheap shots from Dinero during and just before the match). With the ref down, D'Angelo Dinero enters the ring and hits his finisher on Benoit, Corbin rolls over for the pin, Madcap Moss who had already been taken down with the ref (inadvertently) by Benoit, wakes the ref up and helps him get into the ring for the 3 count. |

WINNER: EDDIE GUERRERO & REY MYSTERIO
Backstory: The Undisputed Era have begun taking Austin Theory into their group who had a series of matches with Mysterio and impressed them winning 2-of-3 contests (albeit third being with their help). The Undisputed Era have taken issue with the Latin duo but Eddie & Rey have had them outmatched in the big showdowns.
AEW MATCH #2 3-on-1 Handicap Match Chyna (60%) vs. Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) (40%)

Backstory: Motor City Machine Guns continue feuding with Butcher & Blade after being involved in the 4-team gauntlet at Double or Nothing and falling just short. Very extreme match here full of high flying spots from Shelley & Sabin. They win it with a huge table spot from on top of the titantron.

AEW MATCH #3 Cody Rhodes (30%) vs. Christian (w/ Tomko) (70%)
WINNER: CODY RHODES
Backstory: A bit of a slow start for Cody while Christian's Coalition has been cruising but the tables turn here with a BIG win for the American Nightmare.

In the weeks prior, good friend of Benoit, Perry Saturn, had been making appearances with Benoit backstage hoping to get a job with AEW's developmental. Perry Saturn comes in for the save during this match to help even the odds and Benoit gets the win with a diving headbutt to Dinero on a steel chair.
AEW Presents: THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH
MATCH #1 #1 Contendership for AEW World Championship Adam Cole (80%) vs. Rey Mysterio (20%) *everyone banned from ringside, Adam Cole earned title shot opportunity vs. Austin Theory while Rey Mysterio earned title shot opportunity vs. Eddie Guerrero
WINNER: ADAM COLE
Backstory: Pals Eddie & Rey and The Undisputed Era + Austin Theory had been going at it for a bit now. Adam Cole defeated Austin Theory and Rey Mysterio defeated Eddie Guerrero to earn this shot at a World title opportunity and with lots of cheating going on in these altercations, everyone else had been banned from ringside. During the match, the ref goes down and Austin Theory & reDragon are quick to help out their buddy & leader Adam Cole BAYBAY. But then, EDDIE GUERRERO comes to the rescue, beating up on the entire group with a chair. Rey Mysterio gets to his feet, holding his banged up torso and looking to give Eddie a handshake for his assistance. BUT NO! Eddie Guerrero slams Rey Mysterio with a surprise chair shot to the head. He angrily chucks the chair out of the ring and goes up to the top rope with his signature taunt and hits Rey with a frog splash. As the ring clears, the ref gets up, Adam Cole hits The Boom on Rey who was just finally struggling to get to his knees, and wins the match.
MATCH #2 AEW TNT Championship MVP (C) (80%) vs. Tetsuya Naito (20%)
WINNER: MVP
Backstory: Solid month-long feud between MVP & Tetsuya Naito that started with Naito making an appearance on MVP's VIP Lounge segment and turning into a brawl due to MVP's ignorant cockiness. With some sneaky maneuvering, MVP prevails in this one to continue his TNT title reign.
MATCH #3 Champions vs. Champion LayCool (Michelle McCool & Layla) (40%) vs. The Beautiful People (Angelina Love & Velvet Sky) (60%)
WINNER: LAYCOOL
Backstory: LayCool is ON A ROLL and even defeat the current AEW Women's champion & partner Angelina in this champions showdown now. Not only that but the tweeners LayCool, despite their own cocky attitude, have become big fan favorites with the crowd as they continue to impress. Official FACE TURN this past month.
MATCH #4 Hook & Ladder Challenge: MITB Briefcase Ladder Match Hook (80%) vs. Kurt Angle (20%)
WINNER: HOOK
Backstory: Hook had been doing the Hook & Ladder challenge even prior to Money in the Bank on episodes of AEW Dynamite, previously defeating Carlito, Mr. Kennedy & Bron Breakker in this match to retain his TBS title a couple times now. After winning Money in the Bank, Hook has gained the attention of many others on the roster including seasoned vet Kurt Angle who challenged him for the MITB briefcase at The Great American Bash to show him what a US Olympic Gold Medalist can do. However, Hook has become a seasoned vet with those ladders and manages to pull out a victory over Kurt Angle - his biggest singles victory yet.
MATCH #5 Cody Rhodes (20%) vs. Muhammad Hassan w/ Daivari (80%)
WINNER: MUHAMMAD HASSAN
Backstory: Highly despised heel Muhammad Hassan takes on massive fan favorite, The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes at The Great American Bash in Washington D.C. Enough said. The fans are pissed that Hassan takes home the victory in a big country-fueled rivalry and Hassan & Daivari soak it all in after the match as they stand over Cody Rhodes and a ripped up American flag.

Backstory: Chyna has been a thorn in Toxic Attraction's side and showing dominance over the AEW's women's division as a whole. Now she's getting her title shot.
MATCH #7 AEW World Tag Team Championships Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) (C) (70%) vs. DX (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) (30%)
WINNER: MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS
Backstory: DX finally gets their shot at the titles after falling short in a multi-team match at Double or Nothing. Guerillas of Destiny make their first appearance at the top of the ramp while DX started gaining some momentum in the match. While Triple H is distracted by their presence, the Motor City Machine Guns are able to regain their footing in the match and pull out a surprise win.
MATCH #8 10-Man Elimination Tag Team - Tables Match Chris Jericho, Christian, Tomko, Akam & Rezar (30%) vs. The Rock, Big Show, Kane, Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley (70%)
WINNER: CHRIS JERICHO & CHRISTIAN COALITION
Backstory: THE ROCK finally makes his debut after Money in the Bank, taking issue with the way Jericho & Christian's group were running around this place - even mocking them like a couple chickens with their heads cut off. He's not the only one though as they've created many enemies which led to a 10-man elimination tag match here. However, they back it up with a big win here.

WINNER: D-GENERATION X
Backstory: Feud has continued heating up, resulting in this match: Taken place in a dark alley at a pub in London, full of weapons on the ground and attached on the walls. WINNER: D'ANGELO DINERO
Backstory: Chris Benoit has gotten the better of Dinero in this feud but Dinero has now built a little army around him, known as El Dinero Club, and in a match where only one of them would secure their new ally to the NXT brand, Dinero was the one ruthless enough to get Chris Benoit to quit. As Dinero traps Benoit in a Crippler Crossface with the help of Oro Mensah, Rich Swann threatens to further bloody and destroy Perry Saturn with a barbed wire bat, who has taken a beating in this match. Between the agonizing crossface pain that he can not get out of and the threat of danger to his pal Perry Saturn, Chris Benoit finally mutters the words "I Quit" and will not be seen again on AEW NXT. After he quits, Rich Swann gives Perry Saturn a shot to the back of the head/shoulders with the barbed wire bat anyway. Benoit and Saturn lay lifeless, face to the mat for minutes after the match before Benoit finally awakens to drag himself over to Saturn who is receiving medical attention.

AEW SUMMERSLAM August 18-20, 2023

AEW MATCH #2 Muhammad Hassan (80%) vs. Tetsuya Naito (20%)

Muhammad Hassan picks up the victory to remain undefeated.
AEW MAIN EVENT 60-minute Iron Man Tag Team Match DX (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) (30%) vs. Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa) (70%)
WINNER: GUERRILLAS OF DESTINY
Backstory: Two legendary tag teams in their own right have had a war of words in the weeks leading up to this match but have some respect for each other. With just minutes to go in the match, Guerrillas of Destiny take the lead 2 pinfalls to 1. DX gain some momentum back to try to pull off a quick tie and go to a sudden death round... HBK has Tama lined up for the Sweet Chin Music but his partner Tanga wisely manages to enter the ring and push him out of his path. With seconds to go, DX try to regain their footing and Triple H becoming the legal man hits a pedigree to Tama Tonga as the clock is ticking down. 5... 4... 3... Triple H manages to get on top at the 2 second mark and falls short at a 1-2 count as the time expires. The fans continue to count "1, 2, 3, 4, 5" but it's too little too late as the buzzer sounded before they could tie it up at 2-2 falls. After the match, the respect shined through more than ever as they embraced each other in the middle of the ring and unlike they've done to any other opponent on AEW thus far, DX extend their hands not to say "Suck It" but to shake the hands of the guys that just beat them fair and square in this highly anticipated battle.

AEW MATCH #2 Eddie Guerrero (80%) vs. Rey Mysterio (20%)
WINNER: EDDIE GUERRERO
Backstory: This feud went from surprising that Eddie would turn on his good friend Rey like this, to outright disrespectful as Eddie had started getting Rey's family involved shortly leading up to this match. In a match everyone wanted to see, Y2J manages to pull out a huge victory over The Rock. Eddie explains to Rey how he had sex with his wife prior to his daughter's birth and he and his wife kept that a secret from him. Rey couldn't believe it but his wife actually doesn't even comfortably deny it. After a segment similar to the Maury Show it is actually unclear to everyone and even Rey who the actual father is. In a following episode, Rey's wife starts to admit that anything that happened between her & Eddie was a mistake but she never truly took it that far and is sure that Rey is the father of their daughter. It all leads to a custody battle for Rey Mysterio's daughter in this big ladder match.
