OS: Who is the Man in Charge? Empty

The American Airlines Center is filled with anticipation as ringside staff are at a rush to make sure everything, from the ropes, to the cameras are ready to go.  Tonight is the first ever Revenge exclusive PPV, and everyone is ready for something amazing.  However, what exactly will happen no is quite clear.  All anyone knows is that it’s going to be quite the show tonight.  With everything apparently prepared, the staff okay the production that things are good to go with a few minutes to spare.  The fans notice that things are settling down, and prepare for the opening of the show.  Many yelling out “Wooooo!” and holding up their signs a bit early, showing off their work to the others in attendance.  And with that the lights in the arena dim, as Retaliation is only moments from beginning.

“Several months ago, Revenge began.  The first ever XWA brand to air on primetime television.”

“A rough start nearly meant the end before it could begin.”

“Instead, management told the roster, step it up, or get out.”

“The roster took it a bit personally, as not only did they step it up.”

“They retaliated!”

After this last, if not a tad bit corny, line of introduction, the arena is filled with the opening chords of Saints and Sinners by Godsmack.  The official team of Retaliation 2013!  The titantron in the arena lights up with clips from various matches featuring the combatants tonight, highlighting the action that takes place each and every night.  All of this before coming down in front of the commentating desk, introducing the Revenge commentating team of Michael Fields and Ronny White.  White looks like the standard professional sports commentator, as he’s dressed in a fine suit.  His hair combed neatly over.  On the other side of the table, his broadcast partner is the exact opposite.  Sat in very casual clothing, as he’s dressed in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.  His hair falling down behind his head, the ‘superstar’ look you could say surrounds him.  Michael Fields looks the exact opposite of White’s clean look as the two men start their commentating.

“Welcome to XWA Retaliation 2013,” exclaims White excitedly, obviously ready for his first time on PPV!  “This is Ronny White alongside my broadcast partner Michael Fields!”

“Live here at the American Airlines Center in Dallas Texas, god damn south,” notes Field, clearly not a fan of the southern US.

“Anyways, we have a great show for all of you tonight, but not only that, we will finally see the face of the man who will be in control of Revenge from now on,” continues White excitedly.

“I swear to god if he’s an idiot….”

“Don’t say that Michael!  Like him or hate him, he’s about to be your boss!”

“Yeah… still don’t care.”

Before the two bickering commentators can continue though, the lights go down once more, meaning only one thing.  They’re about to find out who the GM is after countless weeks of speculation and curiosity.  The titantron lights up as both Mr. Basura and Mr. Gomi appear.  They’re sat in an office, both still wearing very nice suits.  The two management figures who appear to be in charge of Revenge’s side of the business both have very serious looks on their faces.  After a brief moment of silence, Gomi takes charge of the announcement.

“After weeks of evaluation, we have decided that Revenge has come far from its blunders earlier this year.  It’s no longer a prime time failure, but a very strong work in progress, and we’re glad to say that we plan to extend its stay here as part of the XWA family for another PPV in the near future.”

A very loud cheer from the fans can be heard from the Texas crowd at the announcement, before Mr. Basura continues for his associate.

“Of course, neither Mr. Gomi nor I will be involved with that PPV.  As we’ve come to the decision that it is indeed time to announce a GM.  The man who will be in charge of keeping order, and getting things done.  While we don’t know how capable any man is with a position of so much power, we feel that we’ve made a good decision.  A man who simply loves this business, and wants to see things go where they’ve never gone before.  So with that, we introduce your new Revenge General Manager…”

Just as he finishes this statement, the words ‘Tex Roberts’ appear on the screen to the opening chords of Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd.  The crowd cheers the song before the man even walks out.  Not for the man of course, but this is the south after all.  Not long after this a man in a pair of rough Wrangler jeans, and a flannel t-shirt walks out.  A worn down cowboy hat on his head.  The fans give the man a cheer as he’s shown to be a southern boy in charge of prime time television!  Who would have thought!  As Simple Man dies down, Tex lifts up a mic, ready to properly introduce himself.

“Good evening XWA Universe!”

If nothing else, he may have one of the thickest Texan accents anyone’s ever heard as the crowd roars back in approval.

“Now, you see when XWA management came to me of all people and asked me to come out here as the new General Manager, I can’t lie.  I was the happiest man in the world at that moment, I’ve been watching wrestling since I was born!”

The fans give Roberts another cheer, though they’re not quite clear what is going on just yet.  Meanwhile, Michael Fields has face desked the commentating table.

“I imagine quite a few of you are looking at me and thinking, ‘this guy is just a dumb ol’ redneck’.  A southern boy who doesn't belong in charge.  Well, you’re partly right, I am a redneck, and damn proud of it too.  I drink beer, watch Nascar, and drive a broken down pickup truck everywhere I go, and I’m in a lifelong relationship with the Dallas Cowboys!  That don’t mean I can’t take care of business though.  I’m going to be keeping a tight ship here on Revenge.  You see, I don’t want to see something like this great sport get tarnished.  I want to usher in the new age of heroes in wrestling, the new age of future legends.  I want to see this sport remain as great as it’s been since the day I started watching!”

The fans give him another roar of approval for this statement, particularly at the mention of the cities’ NFL franchise.

“So thank you all for your time tonight, and I can’t wait to bring you the best in XWA from now on!”

With this final statement, Tex Roberts bows out to the tune of Simple Man, before things fade to hype for the opening contest of the evening.
