During a recent investor Q&A (soon to be former) Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima stated that the Nintendo 3DS will be supported until the Nintendo Switch becomes "a one-per-person system". Meaning that Nintendo wants multiple Switch consoles in each houshold before they end the 3DS' life cycle.
