I just tried out my first match on the game. They still have the kick out mechanic I don't like. And the submission hold mini game is ass backwards.
I don't have the game fully downloaded yet. I hope the other features are more interesting than they were years ago. I also imagine there's still no real story mode.

You can change the submission system to a button mashing thing where a button will appear and you have to mash that button until a new button appears and you mash that. Way better than the rotating thing they have that everyone hates. I like the kick out mechanic, though.
MyPlayer mode is the closest they've had to a legit story mode in years, but I'm not a big fan of it. Brandon loves it, though, and he's much further in it that I am, so maybe I just haven't gotten far enough in to really start enjoying it.

You know the kick out is okay. It just pisses me off that I could lose so early in the match because I suck at it
The stick deal for submissions isn't terrible but I think of being in a hold being in a struggle and bottom mashing is harder on you than moving around a stick. The stick thing is more of a race.
