| Subject: The Real World Champion. Mon Mar 02, 2015 8:38 am | |
| Some people might remember that I started up a Blogspot page about two years back, effectively starting from when Hogan won the main event of the first Wrestlemania, and then going through to present day, to see who the Real World Champion was (and is).
The rules are thusly:
1) Every match the champion competes in is for the title.
2) The title changes hands in a tag team match ONLY if the champion is pinned
3) The title will NOT change hands on a disqualification
4) Only TV shows and PPVs. If you think I’m checking house show results from Woolamooloo, then kindly stop wasting good oxygen. Title changes are based on the date the show AIRS, not when it is filmed. I’m using Cagematch’s definition of a TV Show/PPV for this. I’m also using them for basically every match, so thanks to them for existing. Great site.
5) As we know, injuries, firings, and worse have played their role in wrestling over the years. If a wrestler is injured, fired, “retires” (hi Terry!) or is otherwise temporarily out of action, I will give them six months between their last match and their following one before I award the title to somebody else. If the wrestler dies, obviously that six month rule is ignored and the title is re-awarded straight away.
This ruling was later changed to two months, to try and stop inactivity
6) The re-awarding of the title will work like this: the previous champion (i.e. the one before the guy that managed to incapacitate himself) will be given a chance to win it back in his next match. I’m sure it’ll make sense when it actually happens.
7) In elimination matches (Royal Rumble included) the person that eliminates the champion will become champion. This can only happen once per match, so if the Real World Champion comes out first, and is then eliminated by Funaki, then Funaki keeps the title regardless of whether or not he wins the match. This is mainly to try and keep the title away from the main event (which is bloody hard to do).
8) In the case of a multi-man elimination, the title will be awarded to the person that contributed the most to that elimination. This will usually be the person that started to throw the champion out, before others came to help. If this is not clear, I will probably just award the title to whichever person involved I like best.
The next post will include the title history. You'll very quickly notice Brock is champ, and he has almost certainly violated the two month rule during his time as champion. However, because I'm lazy, and because he's actually been an active member of the roster, I'm not going to strip him of the title.

| Come Wrestlemania, Brock will have held the title for 224 days. This is the longest reign for over twenty years, after Bret Hart's 248 day reign in 1994. Lesnar is a current four time champ, and puts his title on the line at Wrestlemania against two time champ Roman Reigns. Can Reigns make it three? |

´ If WWE do not start giving ACTUAL wrestling lessons to him, that will possibly be the only title he'll ever hold. |

| OKAY UPDATE.
After 22nd June, Braun had not wrestled on TV for two months. Which means that the previous champion should be given a chance to win the title back on his next TV/PPV match. That's Kane, whose last match just so happens to be the very same one that Braun was involved in.
So I've decided that Seth Rollins (as the one before Kane) will be given the chance to win the title back in his next match. Which is tonight on Smackdown. Which has already been taped, and Seth beat Sami Zayn. So Seth is our new champion. |
