The return of Shane McMahon to WWE television this week coincides with a major shift in relation to the company’s philosophy heading into WrestleMania 32 in just over a month’s time.

According to recent reports, WWE television is about to become more “edgy” over the next several weeks to build some momentum up toward the biggest show of the year.

Discussing the topic on Wednesday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez spoke of sources telling him that the product would see this change in philosophy, at least until WrestleMania. There were several aspects of this shift during Monday night’s show which would seem to be evidence that indicate this is indeed the case.

Vince McMahon openly dropped an “f-bomb” during his segment with Shane, causing the censors to have to mute the sound for a couple of seconds. With Vince being the owner of the company, and as someone who has disciplined wrestlers in the past for using improper language on television, this is definitely evidence that Vince is open to a product that will be pushing the language barrier a little bit more (though in no way comparable to what WWE was doing during the Attitude Era).

Romain Reigns’ “blood” at the conclusion of Monday’s show added flavor to the product. Yes, Reigns used a blood packet rather than cutting himself for real blood, but the illusion of blood is still a subject that WWE was recently very much against. While you shouldn’t expect to see images of blood on RAW every single week, it’s something that they appear to be more open to bringing out more now than in recent years.

As for Shane himself, there is still no word on how long he will be sticking around for. It would seem likely that he may become a weekly character following WrestleMania, perhaps somehow defeating the Undertaker and winning control of RAW. Will an edgier RAW be something we can plan on seeing permanently if WWE decides to change-up the show’s entire image under a possible Shane McMahon led era? Only time will tell.

if they are going to use blood i rather them use the caps instead of the blade. it is a lot safer and plus blood can add a lot to a match.
