– Following a tease this weekend that he could be entering the Royal Rumble, a new report says that WWE made AJ Styles quite an offer to jump aboard. PWTorch (via WZ) reports that while both New Japan and Ring of Honor had a strong interest in re-signing Styles, WWE snagged him away by offering a “blow-away” deal.

WWE previously made an offer to Styles when he was near the end of one of his contracts with TNA. That offer had been reported as a low-ball in the range of $60,000 a year, far below the amount he’d been making with TNA, and he chose to re-sign with TNA instead. However, the rise of NXT has made a big change in how WWE offers deals which led to the new offer.

There is no confirmation that Styles has officially signed on of course, nor that he will appear in the Royal Rumble.
